We’ve heard covers of Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring of Fire’. One of which was that of Home Free with Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix. That was an a capella version which flowed in our veins so smoothly we could all sing along. Would you give it one more chance to hear it’s solo cover version? I know you would.
So, Let’s Get to Know Our Subject More…
Vince Mira is a singer and songwriter born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He dedicates himself to country and rock and roll music. His deep bass-baritone voice is always compared to Johnny Cash. His list of collections consists of several Johnny Cash and Hank Williams songs, as well as his own originals. Vince subsequently moved to Federal Way, Washington and began his career playing Spanish-language songs in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. Producer, Chris Snell discovered him there. His likeness to Johnny Cash trapped the ear of Cash’s son, John Carter Cash. Because of this, John later on produced Mira’s first record.
Released in 2008 by Lucky Rebel Records, Cash Cabin Sessions is Vince Mira’s first episode. Executive producer Chris Snell, with assistance from John Carter Cash, helped Mira in the release. The recording involves several Johnny Cash covers, including ‘Blistered’, ‘Ring of Fire’ and a Spanish-language version of ‘Ring of Fire’. It also included two of his own compositions – ‘Cold Hearted Woman’ and ‘Closer’. The young Man in Black’s nickname is ‘Juanny Cash’, because of his Hispanic heritage.
His Outstanding ‘Ring of Fire’ Performance in Good Morning America Show
We might have already watched this episode in Good Morning America in 2007. Before kicking off, host, Robin Roberts explained that the boy was discovered “performing for spare change on a street in Seattle”. The special feature on the musical prodigy that day was perhaps the vocal twin to country icon Johnny Cash – Vince Mira. When asked about his supernatural vocal resemblance, Mira admitted,
“I never sounded like this. I never had a deep voice until I moved to Washington. That’s when “the change” happened.“
Giving the mob a taste of his vocal power, Mira graced them with a fiery performance of Cash’s timeless hit ‘Ring of Fire’. He stunned the audience with an awesome talent well beyond his years. During the final lines, the audience stood in applause as they appreciated the talented boy and his bright future ahead.
