Many fans have adored gospel country music for a long time. And Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” is one of the most recognized songs in that genre. That’s why many outstanding musicians like John Cale and Jeffrey Buckley have been covering and modifying it for years.

However, Jason Castro‘s rendition of the song during one of his performances during American Idol season 7 back in 2008 is one of the most well-known and outstanding versions of the song released this century. His heavenly voice and undoubtedly angelic charisma and personality helped many people connect more deeply with the music. Even his cover version was made available as a part of his 2010 album “Who AM I.”

For years, Jason has been regarded as the voice of the Christian community. He is not the sort to sing gospel music only to attract more listeners as a marketing strategy; instead, he is pretty enthusiastic about it. He is regarded as one of the most pious vocalists the music industry has ever produced.

The audience was speechless when he sang “Hallelujah” on stage because of how heavenly and holy the performance was. Additionally, according to listeners, Jason Castro is one of those rising musicians that will act as a link between the legendary music of the past and the modern audience.

Jason Castro was credited with making “Hallelujah” relevant to a broad audience. Despite being one of the most famous gospel songs ever, it is unavoidable that some people of today’s age are unaware of the song, considering it was first released in 1984. And there is no doubt that Jason played a part in making it popular and well-remembered by this generation.
