Their Award Winning Album, Raising Sand

In 2007, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant collaborated, for the first time, to release their album, Raising Sand. When they released their album, it entered various charts inside and outside of the US. It secured the number two spot on the Billboard Hot 200 and Top Country Albums Songs chart. Furthermore, Raising Sand placed at number one on the Billboard Rock chart.

Singles

They released four singles from their album and three of which entered the chart. “Gone, Gone, Gone (Done Moved On)” reached number two on the Billboard chart, while “Please Read the Letter” fall at number twenty-two. The album has been platinum certified by different recording industries.

Awards

Plant and Krauss were the big winners of the 51st Grammy Award. They brought home the Record of the Year for their single “Please Read the Letter.” The song was produced by T-Bone Burnett. They also competed with Lil Wayne, Coldplay, Ne-Yo, and Radiohead for Album of the Year. Surprisingly, both won the Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for their single “Rich Woman.” In this category, they were in competition with Alicia Keys and John Mayer; Madonna, Justine Timberlake, and Timbaland; Maroon 5 and Rihanna; and Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown. Plant and Krauss also won the award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals and Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album.

Speeches

When Krauss received the award, she didn’t forget to acknowledge the people behind their success that night. Furthermore, she also thanked Plant for making every moment fun.

“Especially Robert. There’s never a dull moment.”

Plant also gave thanks to the people who made their album possible, and he also complimented Krauss for her talent and work.

“I’d like to thank Alison Krass for her kindness and patience, teaching me to sing in straight lines instead of doing all that twirly stuff.”

Who do you think will be this year’s biggest winner at the Grammy?
