The “party of the year” in country music has just concluded! It’s time to check out who among the big country stars shone the brightest at the 54th ACM awards. It seems that this year’s country music party is for the duo Dan + Shay. When the official list of nominees was out earlier, they took the lead having a total of six nominations under their name. With that, they have higher chances of winning more awards in the event.

While Chris Stapleton tied with the duo for the most number of nominations in the 2019 ACMs, the former outshined him. Stapleton emerged as one of the biggest winners in last year’s ACM Awards. He won the trophies for Album of the Year and Male Vocalist of Year on top of welcoming his and wife’s twins on the same night of the ceremony. However, Stapleton failed to obtain any of the awards he was nominated for.

Dan + Shay’s ACM Trophies

They were nominated for ACM Awards Duo of the Year, Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Music Event of the Year, Single of the Year, and Song of the Year. In addition, one of the pairs, Dan Smyers, managed to get nods as the producer for Album of the Year, Music Event of the Year, Single of the Year, and Song of the Year. Out of their six nominations, Dan + Shay won three; two went for their single “Tequila.”

Their 2018 release was named Song of the Year and Single Record of the Year. For the first award, the duo beat their co-nominees Cole Swindle (“Break Up in the End”), Chris Stapleton (“Broken Halos”), Bebe Rexha feat. Florida Georgia Line (“Meant To Be”), Kacey Musgraves (“Space Cowboy”), and Russell Dickerson (“Yours”).

On the other hand, “Tequila” bested other nominated records namely “Down to the Honkytonk” (Jake Owen), “Heaven” (Kane Brown), “Meant To Be” (Bebe Rexha feat. Florida Georgia Line), and “Most People Are Good” (Luke Bryan).

In addition, the pair was also crowned as the Duo of the Year beating out Brothers Osborne, Florida Georgia Line, LOCASH, and Maddie & Tae.
