In 1960, country legend Elvis Presley released a moving cover of the hit song “If We Never Meet Again” featuring artists The Jordanaires.

Written by Albert E. Brumley, the song was initially released in 1946 by the country group Brown’s Ferry Four. Over the coming years, known country singers like Elvis Presley released their cover of the song, with one also being Owen Mac’s cover in 2020.

Elvis Presley’s version, in particular, is considered the most popular cover. With his distinctive, unique voice, it was easy for Presley to capture the listener’s attention. Known as one of the most iconic singers of all time, almost all of Presley’s releases always become a hit.

There are several albums of Presley, but his fifth studio album where “If We Never Meet Again” was featured, was once a major hit, it was placed at no.13 on Billboard 200 – making him an esteemed figure in the history of music.

In his version of “If We Never Meet Again,” Presley’s voice sounded so enchanted that it gave an odd yet amazing rush of feelings. His performance was so powerfully executed that it is now considered the best cover of the hit song in history.

As we dive right into the meaning behind “If We Never Meet Again,” we’ll eventually find out what made this song a hit to many.

Meaning Behind the Song

Written by Albert E. Brumley, the song is simply a reminder that dying is not the end for us. The truth is, it’s the beginning of something new.

The lyrics of the song merely show how the protagonist conveys his message to his lover, informing her that they will never encounter each other again. But he believes that he’s sure that they will meet one day, not here on earth but in God’s kingdom.

Presley, a devout Christian who prayed every time, shows how important it is for him to spread the word of God through his music. In this song, in particular, we are reminded that when we die, we are not completely gone. Instead, we enter into the Kingdom of God, where we will see the people we love again—making it our everlasting home.

So, if you want to listen to a song that reminds you how beautiful life is, listen to Elvis Presley’s amazing performance of “If We Never Meet Again” below.
