“Speechless” is Dan + Shay’s Gift that Keeps on Giving
Grammy-award winning country duo Dan + Shay has done it again! With their hit “Speechless,” they have won the CMT Duo Video of the Year. The duo, comprised of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, performed significantly well at the charts for them to merit the award.
Currently, they have been on a roll. Winning award after award at almost every award shows that they touch. Now, they have captivated their fans with a brand new version of the perfect wedding song. Together with Grammy-winning artist Tori Kelly, the band has created a version of “Speechless” that includes Kelly’s powerful vocals.
This stems from their dreamy romantic performance at the BBMAs. The fans loved it so much, they had to put it in a record!
Zac Brown Band is 2019 CMT Group Video of the Year
For the night’s Group Video of the Year, the boys from Zac Brown Band were proud to take the trophy for their hit song “Someone I Used to Know.” They expressed their heartfelt gratitude on a tweet sent out by the band.
“…This award is for all of you out there, my band and all the outsiders that waded through everyone’s doubt. For all you young artists, have courage to stand up against the machine, be yourself, work hard and one day you can stand up here and tell all the haters to f— off. “
Zac Brown Band takes a whole different direction with “Someone I Used to Know.” Co-written by pop sensation Shawn Mendez, the song and its compelling music video tackles about Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in a way that has never been tackled in the country genre before.
The almost upbeat and happy beat in the background helps the underlying message to what the song and its corresponding music video are really all about.
Zac Brown, frontman of the band talks about the song as a ‘touch point,’ some time at the end of the music video. It tells the narrative of sharing the pain that someone is feeling and that people don’t need to go through it alone. At some point, he shares that
“pain and depression don’t discriminate; this song is me facing that part of myself of where I want to go and not where I’ve been.”
