Recently, Jake Owen has expressed his solidarity with the members of the LGBTQ+ community with a Bluegrass version of Cher’s hit song “Believe.”

Although the reception was as warm as it can be, some were not really impressed with the move. In fact, they were not very happy. But, Owen has the perfect response for all the haters out there.

However, things weren’t as peachy in the comments section. One commenter, who identifies on Instagram as a Bible-believing Virginia mom, commented her distaste with what Owen came out with. “Suddenly I feel sick that I have tickets to your show here on Thursday night.”

But Owen had the perfect comeback for her!

“I’m sorry you feel sick that you have tickets to my show Thursday night. Maybe it would do you good to come out, smile, laugh, (and) sing along with a bunch of strangers that are all going through what we call ‘life.’ … It’s really only you and few other ignorant people that make yourself look silly. If you make it out to my show, come give me a hug. You need one. If you decide not to come, trust me… we will all be okay. We like to share our shows with people that are kind, and loving.”

The woman stood her ground, despite the reply that Owen gave. She also accused Owen of not playing ‘true country.’

“I just hope that this type of political propaganda isn’t a huge part of his show because I didn’t buy tickets to hear it. I want to go hear him sing and see him run around barefoot. … I don’t hate homosexuals. I just don’t agree with their behavior and I don’t like it shoved in my face. I don’t shove my sins in their faces. I just want musicians to play music.”

This led to a landslide of comments from other fans in support for Owen’s stand – many of them were also self-professed Christians.

Several of Nashville’s greats have also voiced out their support for Owen and his solidarity with the community. Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard commented that he should “keep doing what’s right and don’t worry about people that don’t get it.” He also went on to say that he was proud to call Owen his friend.

Earlier this month, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill showed up backstage at Ty Herndon’s and GLAAD’s annual Concert for Love & Acceptance during CMA Festival week. Top executive writer/producer Shane McAnally has voiced that he experienced nothing but love when he came out gay in Nashville.

The comments section was filled with love and support for Owen and the cause. Although there are a few who do not approve of his support, he is still one of many in Nashville who support the LGBTQ+ Community.
