Country superstar Josh Turner‘s tour bus took a dive 80 feet off an embankment in California, leaving one dead and seven injured, officials confirmed.
Josh Turner’s Tour Bus Crashed
The crash happened shortly after their latest show at the Vina Robles Amphitheater in Paso Robles on Wednesday night. According to KSBY, the crew bus was on the road for about 20 minutes when it suddenly veered off Highway 46 near Shandon just before midnight.
The bus, which was pulling an equipment trailer, drove through a barbed-wire fence and dense vegetation. It hurtled about 20 feet off the road before plunging down an embankment. The front of the bus then crashed into the bottom of a dry riverbed.
Two people were ejected from the bus and one of them was killed. The other person who was ejected, along with six other occupants on the bus suffered moderate to severe injuries and were taken to the hospitals.
Drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as a possible cause from the car crash but the California Highway Patrol is looking to possible mechanical problems with the bus, as well as the medical history of the driver.
The singer and his band were on a different bus and was not involved in the crash, according to investigators.
The casualty in the accident has been identified as David Turner, 64, according to the California Highway Patrol.

David Turner is not related to Josh Turner, although he’s worked for the “Your Man” singer for nearly 14 years. He was a monitor engineer for the country superstar.
Due to the accident, Turner’s team says the remainder of the country star’s September shows have been canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date, according to a statement released by Universal Music Group Nashville.
The company’s spokesperson Leigh Parr Malleus says,
“Josh Turner and his road family have suffered a devastating loss. Please keep the crew, band, and Josh in your thoughts and prayers. Everyone is still processing what’s happened.”
