Missy Raines Wins Instrumental Record of the Year; Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper are 2019 IMBA’s Instrumental Group of the Year

The International Bluegrass Music Association crowned their leading pickers and players in bluegrass as esteemed artists are honored for their amazing contributions to the genre.

At the 30th annual celebration, Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers took home the coveted Entertainer of the Year award, while Sister Sadie earned Vocal Group of the Year, and the Del McCoury Band’s Still Sings Bluegrass won Album of the Year.

IMBA Executive Director Paul Schiminger expressed his sense of pride for the bluegrass community in a news release.

“This is a moment for everyone in the bluegrass community to feel proud and celebrate the many accomplishments of the past year. It is no wonder the appreciation of bluegrass is growing every day.”

The IBMA’s annual “World of Bluegrass” gathering of industry professionals and fans from around the globe began Tuesday and the celebration of the genre concludes with the star-studded Wide Open Bluegrass festival on Friday and Saturday.

Part of what makes bluegrass a great genre is it’s one of a kind instruments and instrumentalists.

Missy Raines is joined by Alison Brown, Mike Bub, and Todd Phillips in a smashing version of  “Darlin’ Pal(s) of Mine.” The wonderful song earned the honor of Instrumental Recording of the Year. This song is part of the award-winning bassist’s latest album Royal Traveller.

Meanwhile, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper are awarded the coveted title of Instrumental Group of the Year.
