Turning one genre of music to another is such an incredible thing; as you can prove how great an artist is. It shows that they are able to arrange a certain song into another, completely making us think that the song is newly or originally released single. This is what exactly happened to Elvis Presley‘s song “Little Sister.”
Dwight Yoakam Covers the Song
In 1987, country singer Dwight Yoakam was just starting his career as a country singer. He had already released some songs that placed at the top 5 of the country chart, and that marked a great beginning for his career. Even though he was starting his life as a country artist, he proved to a lot of people and his fans that he can turn a classic rock song like it was his own. Therefore, he took the King of Rock and Roll’s song “Little Sister” and offered a whole new spin into it.

Elvis Presley’s Original Version
The original version was recorded by Presley in 1961 as the B-side to “(Marie’s the Name) His Latest Flame.” His version reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. After releasing the song as a single he also made a medley of his song with “Get Back.”

What is the Song All About?
The lyrics to “Little Sister” was penned by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman. The song is all about the narrator trying to get with his ex-girlfriend’s sister.
Well, I dated your big sister
And took her to a show
I went for some candy
Along came Jim Dandy
And they snuck right out of the door
Dating the big sister was a mess, he was cheated on and so he went after the younger sister. But he was asking the little sister to not turn like her big sister, running away from him with another man.
Little sister, don’t you
Do what your big sister done
