Pat Barrett is one of the members of the band Housefires and a worship leader at Grace Midtown in Atlanta who gave an inspirational song entitled “This is the Day.” With this song, Pat wants to share how great our God is.

“This Is The Day” is a song inspired by Psalm 118 which states that,

“This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.”

The verse mentioned in this song is the words we need in our life. It talks about the attributes of God and the kindness and goodness of His character.

Talking about the story behind the song, Pat shared:

“One of the reasons I feel like this song has connected with me on a pretty deep level is because I love anything that makes you see the present differently,” says Barrett. He goes on to talk about how we, as a society, tend to be so busy and worried about the future that we are not focused on the current moment.

He added,

“That’s why in the Sermon on the Mount, I love when Jesus talks about worry,” explains Barrett. “Because he didn’t just say don’t worry, he talked about the way worry takes you out of today. He says, ‘Who of you by worrying can add one single minute or day to your life. Tomorrow’s got enough worries for itself. Be here. This moment is what you actually have. You don’t have tomorrow yet. You may not have tomorrow. But what you do have is here and now, and what will you do with the here and now that you’ve been given.’”

Making decisions each day are already part of our life. Sometimes we make decisions based on our emotions and past experiences. Sometimes we even ask help from the others in making decisions. Why? It is because to avoid judgment or disappointment on our own. But remember, in whatever decision you make, always ask God for help because He is the only one who will lead you in the right way.
