Power couple Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani had their fourth collaboration together when they released “Happy Anywhere” as a single via streaming and digital download in July 2020.

Shelton and Stefani debuted the song during the TODAY Summer Concert Series, and the now-engaged couple could even hardly take their eyes off of each other while singing a romantic acoustic version of the song, with Shelton on guitar.

The upbeat country duet quickly peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 while No. 1 on Billboard Country Airplay. It also went in several of the country’s charts in Canada.

You Can Be Happy Anywhere As Long As You’re With The Right Person

Written by Ross Copperman, Josh Osborne, and Matt Jenkins, “Happy Anywhere” was described by Blake Shelton as a “loving, feel-good tune.” The couple professed their love for each other and revealed that they could find happiness no matter where they are as long as they are together.

“I’m running wide open. I was born with my feet in motion. But since I met you, I swear. I could be happy anywhere. Any mapped out location, you’re always my destination. You’re the only thing that I’m chained to. I could be happy anywhere. I could be happy anywhere with you,” the song goes.

Quarantining together during the pandemic has also been a big part of the song’s fruition.

“Even though Gwen and I just had a single out, we decided that, under the circumstances, this year… man, there’s never been a better time for ‘Happy Anywhere,'” Shelton said during the song’s release. “We’ve all been in quarantine and lockdown, and hopefully, we’ve been doing that with somebody that we really love and enjoy being around. That’s what happened with Gwen and me this summer – and this entire year.”

“Happy Anywhere” is the follow-up single to the couple’s platinum-certified heartfelt ballad “Nobody But You” – which climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart after their passionate performance during the 2020 Grammy Awards.

“‘Nobody But You’ was a big song for us, but we actually recorded ‘Happy Anywhere’ before that,” Shelton added. “We were waiting for the right time to release it, and I knew that time was now. We’re all still socially distancing, so there’s no better time to be happy anywhere with the person or people you love. It doesn’t matter where in the world you are — as long as you’re with them, you’re happy.”

After five years of dating, Shelton proposed to Stefani, but the pop star confirmed they don’t have any wedding plans yet due to the pandemic. The two had also now traveled to Oklahoma from Los Angeles, where they were filming The Voice.

In the meantime, you can watch the music video of “Happy Anywhere” below, where Shelton and Stefani’s irresistible chemistry is on full display while serenading each other – from the couch to the cornfield.
