We tend to look up to our favorite musical artists, but it’s still amusing to know that they, too, have their own personal favorites. Today, we’re talking about rising star Caylee Hammack covering one of her favorite childhood song, ‘Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good’ by Don Williams. But you know what’s more nerve-wracking? She’ll be singing the song with Alan Jackson!

Why the Song and How She Tap Alan Jackson’s Help

Nostalgia can all hit us sometimes, and it’s no different for Caylee Hammack. In one of her recent interviews, she said that the song had always had a special place in her heart since childhood. She describes ‘Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good’ as golden because it was able to bring her comfort, especially during her hard times.

Now that she’s given the opportunity to do a cover for it and Alan Jackson being ‘gracious enough’ to do it with her, Caylee Hammack could not be more excited. She also described Jackson’s voice as the chicken noodle soup of country music, thus bringing out the hidden soul of the genre.

As for Alan Jackson, his impression of the cover is almost priceless. He said that the song holds a very deep and special message, and being able to sing it with a ‘sweet voice’ and co-Georgia native is quite a new experience for him, as well.

Caylee Hammack’s Upcoming Album

But what about ‘Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good’? This was popularized by Don Williams when he became part of the Country Music Hall of Fame back in 1981. For the record, this song marks his 12th top 1 ranking song. Apparently, many artists prefer covering his songs such as Lee Ann Womack and Keb’ Mo’.

The song always gets to people because it reminds them to remain thankful for the days of fewer troubles despite not being showered with much fortune. It also reminds us to set a rather simple goal for each day, and be thankful for the little good we experience throughout the day.

“I don’t need fortune and I don’t need fame. Send down the thunder, Lord, send down the rain, but when you’re plannin’ just how it will be, plan a good day for me”

Caylee Hammack, however, won’t just stop with the cover of this song. She recently announced that on August 14, she will be releasing her debut album, ‘If It Wasn’t for You’, which includes 13 tracks co-produced and written by Alan Jackson.
