Released in 1973, “Jolene’ became an instant hit for Dolly Parton. 47 years after its debut, a generation who has never heard of the song took their time to listen and shared their thoughts about this timeless hit.

Gen Z Also Loves the 1973 Hit

The Williams twins, Tim and Fred, have taken over the headlines of YouTube with their series “First Time Hearing: Twins the New Trend.” In their series, they would, for the first time, listen to classic songs that were probably way older than them. The 21-year-old brothers said that they grew up listening to rap and church music only. This time, they would want to step out of their comfort zone by discovering the beauty of music from the past.

Recently, the Williams twins published a new episode that featured Dolly Parton’s 1973 hit “Jolene.” When the song started playing, their delight was a far cry from the typical youngsters’ usual reactions. Nodding their heads to the beat, the brothers were instantly engulfed by the majestic and wonderful voice of Parton. As seen on their faces, they were clearly enjoying their newfound groove.

The twins admitted that at first, they did not know what to expect from the song. Tim said that as soon as they press the play button it was on.

“It was a straight banger” Tim said.

Both brothers also highlighted how Dolly Parton’s storytelling captured them matched by her incredible singing capabilities.

The Williams twins first caught the attention of many when they began publishing reactions to some classic songs like “Dream On” by Aerosmith, Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” and Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5.”

Parton is Definitely an Ageless Wonder

Dolly Parton is considerably an all-time American Music Idol. “Jolene,” being one of the biggest hits in her career, ranks at number 217 of the top 500 greatest songs in 2004.

Dolly Parton’s hits might have debuted decades ago, but seeing the Williams brothers’ reaction to one of Parton’s songs, it is a statement on the timelessness of our country music queen. From their grandparents, parents, and now them, Generation Z, there’s this unanimous agreement about Parton’s works or arts. Our Book Lady‘s singing prowess and storytelling abilities will always be a thing of beauty in any decade.

Watch out for more of the Williams twins reaction videos on their YouTube channel. It’s amusing to see how this present young generation are becoming more open-minded and appreciative of the songs which, to most, are just all a thing of the past.
