With less than a month to go until the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards, Tenille Townes and Riley Green are already big winners.

Through a video conference, country music star and host for the ACM Awards, Keith Urban gave some surprising news for both Townes and Green. Urban announced that Townes won the ‘New Female Artist of the Year’ and Green as the ‘New Male Artist of theYear.’ Alongside winning the said prestigious awards, Urban added that Green and Townes will have the opportunity to perform in the upcoming ACM Awards.

The Alabama Boy

After hearing the surprising news, Riley Green dedicated his award to his grandfather. Green said that his success in the country music industry was all a product of his grandfather’s love for country music. Describing himself as a “boy from Alabama,” Green also thanked all the people, including all his fans, who supported and gave him the opportunity to thrive in his musical career.

The influence from Riley Green’s grandfather can be seen even in his young career as a musician. “I wish Grandpas Never Die” was Green’s accidental viral single. The song was at first purposely written to help him get over the passing of his grandfather.

Green was not supposed to produce the song as a single. But after a Live performance with the song, he instantly gained a huge fan base. Green and his team immediately changed directions and decided to produce “I wish Grandpas Never Die” as a single.

CMT’s Next Woman of Country

After spending a year on the road with Dierks Bentley, Tenille Townes released her debut album “The Lemonade Stand.” This started several other appearances and duets which featured other country music stars like Miranda Lambert and other rising stars.
