Carly Pearce’s newest single “Next Girl” is out and it wants you to know of what you probably might face in the future “girl.”
Too Personal?
Carley Pearce seemed to send a bit of a personal message with her newest single. Everyone who has kept a close eye on country music lately would know that Carly Pearce and her past husband Michael Ray decided to cut their ties after less than a year of marriage. If the past months were a sign of what could happen to Pearce and Ray, it was noticeable how the couple posted less about themselves. Pearce also added that as she watched her single “I Hope You’re Happy Now” rise, it felt bittersweet considering the events that were happening to the world and to her own world as well.
In her newest single “Next Girl,” Pearce sends her message across telling other young women to be careful. As per her description, the world today is full of smooth-talking guys. Personal sentiments aside, the 3-minute single took on the bluegrass flavor and a ‘90s radio hit vibe.
An Outstanding Supporting Cast
Surrounded by award-winning and a well known supporting cast, Pearce’s follow-up single to her duet with Lee Brice, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” “Next Girl” could probably be Pearce’s next biggest hit. With co-writers Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne and with the inspiration from powerful female country singers from the past decades, Pearce surely made her statement clear.
Pearce also had the 2020 CMA Musician of the Year Nominee Rob McNelly and Ace Ilya Toshinsky help her out with her new single. McNelly and Toshinsky added warmth to “Next Girl” and was assisted by dobro player Josh Matheny and drummer Fred Eltringham who added a twangy, peepy melody that would give you that classic yet modern feel.
2020 CMA Nominee
Not long ago, Carly Pearce released her “Self-entitled” album on Valentine’s Day. “Next Girl” was not on the project and it seemed like Pearce has been really creative these days. How couldn’t she be creative and inspired, after receiving 4 nominations for the upcoming CMA Awards, which included a nod as New Artist. Her other nominations include music Video of the Year, Musical Event of the Year, and Song of the Year — come on the strength of “I Hope You’re Happy Now” which she co-wrote with Luke Combs, Randy Montana, and Jonathan Singleton.
