Blake Shelton is definitely that kind of guy who would be straightforward in expressing his thoughts. Hear what he has to say about their win from the CMT Awards.
CMT Awards 2020
“Nobody But You” continued rolling into this year’s 2020 CMT Music Awards. This was also Stefani’s first CMT award win in her career. For Blake Shelton, this award meant more than just recognition. After being named as the Collaborative Video of the Year, Shelton did not hesitate to take things right into the heart of the matter.
For Shelton, it was an incredible win, and never thought that they had the chance to bag the award. The country star also expressed his frustrations towards awards shows stating how he thought awards shows are losing credibility and fan-voted awards are the only stand-up awards shows left in the industry.
Shelton saw how fans play a vital role to say who will win since they consumed what they recorded and were the ones that are having fun after all.
Nobody But You
Through the span of their long time relationship, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have showed us that they are a formidable duo on the country music scene. Racking chart-topper to another, it has been a thing to watch out for every time a new duet is released from both Gwen and Blake.
“Nobody But You” was no exemption. The romantic song was originally written by Ross Copperman, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Tommy Lee James for Shelton to record it solo. However, Blake Shelton knew that he had to record the song with his long time girlfriend Gwen Stefani and made a last-minute decision to ask Stefani to join him in the recording booth.
When asked why he ended up asking his fiancee to join him in recording, the country star simply said that it just felt like their song and it was full of magic. The country star was floored by how closed the song mirrored their relationship. Shelton described the song as one of those songs that the more he listened to, the more love he gets.
“Nobody but You” marked the third duet that Shelton and Stefani made and as soon as it was released, it was charted amongst the top 10 country songs as of that time.
