Did you know that Waylon Jennings’ guitar used on stage throughout his career only totaled to five? Get to know more about these wholly-covered guitars as well as the ones he used in the past.

1. 1946 Martin D28 Herringbone Guitar

This dreadnought-style acoustic guitar made by C. F. Martin & Company of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, is said to be Waylon Jennings‘ personal guitar, which he used whenever he would write songs at home as well as on the road. Today, it’s being considered as one of the best Martin collectibles on the market.

2. 1943 Martin Guitar 00021

This is another guitar that is believed to be often used by Jennings for songwriting. It comes with a Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck, and ebony fretboard. However, its original tuners were replaced with Grover Rotomatics tuners.

3.  Yamaha Acoustic Guitar “Roger Miller 1976”

This is one of Jenning’s guitars that is attributed to singer-songwriter Roger Miller.

4. Gibson 1987 Chet Atkins CE Guitar

What makes this nylon string classical-style guitar special is that it was Chet Atkins‘ gift to Jennings. In fact, the sound covers come with Chet’s signature dated ’87. Atkins was actually Jennings’ first primary producer, and though they eventually went separate ways, they have remained friends.

5. Baby Custom-Made Fender Telecaster for Shooter

This guitar is pretty interesting too! Though it has a Telecaster body in the same way as all of Jennings’ electric guitars, its neck was shortened so the country singer’s young son, Shooter Jennings, could play it.

6. Fender Custom Shop Waylon Jennings Telecaster

Jennings used this leather-clad black and white telecaster to play on stage for years.

7. “Little” Jimmy Dickens Dobro Resonator Guitar

This was personally given by “Little” Jimmy Dickens to Jennings, and his name appeared in pearl inlay down the fretboard.

Clearly, we have these instruments to thank for as we enjoy countless brilliant Waylon Jennings songs.
