With her melodious and warm voice, Anne Murray songs dwell in the hearts of her fans since the day she emerged into the music industry.

Within a short span, she was able to climb up the ladder of success at its highest point – quickly becoming one of the biggest stars to come out from Canada, blazing so many trails for her fellow female Canadian artists all throughout her career of forty years.

And, of course, you will seldom find her songs off the chart. So, keep on scrolling below to see some of Anne Murray‘s best hits.

1. “Snowbird”

From: Now And Forever (1970)

The Canadian singer struck it big with “Snowbird” with her lightly bubbly tune written by Gene MacLellan in 1970, which became a Top 10 crossover hit in Country, Pop, and Adult Contemporary songs chart. It was also certified as a gold single by the RIAA, making Murray the first Canadian solo female artist to ever receive an American Gold.

With such success, Murray quickly became one of the most popular singers in North America and all over the world.

2. “Cotton Jenny”

From: Talk It Over in the Morning (1972)

With Murray’s follow-up singles not gaining any attention, her cover of Gordon Lightfoot’s “Cotton Jenny” placed her back to the higher sections of the country Top 40.

3. “Danny’s Song”

From: Danny’s Song (1972)

Folk-rock duo Loggins and Messina’s “Danny’s Song” was another hit for Murray in the early 1970s, even helping her earn her a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

4. “A Little Good News”

From: A Little Good News (1983)

Released as the lead single from the album of the same name, “A Little Good News” struck a chord with listeners who were tired and frustrated with the violence, inflation, recession cycle, and the revival of the Cold War – with an ever more aggressive Soviet Union – that was going on at the time. So, it was no surprise when it became another Country, Pop, and Adult Contemporary hit for Murray.

5. “A Love Song”

From: Love Song (1973)

Following a few minor country hits, Murray returned to the Top 10 with her version of “A Love Song” – which became a major crossover hit early in 1974.

6. “You Needed Me”

From: Let’s Keep It That Way (1978)

The love song turned out to be Murray’s biggest hit since “Songbird.” And no one could relate to its poignant lyrics more than Murray that she quickly recorded “You Needed Me” after hearing it.

7. “A Stranger in My Place”

From: Straight, Clean and Simple (1971)

Though it was originally recorded by Kenny Rogers, Murray’s version was the most successful charting single.

It was released as the second single from her album Straight, Clean and Simple, and it peaked at No. 1 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart while No. 27 on Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

8. “I Just Fall in Love Again”

From: New Kind of Feeling (1979)

By the start of 1979, things only got bigger for Murray. “I Just Fall In Love Again” was an on-the-spot champ to both country and pop listeners when it was released on the year’s first month.

9. “Broken Hearted Me”

From: I’ll Always Love You (1979)

Murray’s faultless run continued with “Broken Hearted Me,” becoming her fourth No. 1 single on the country chart while spending five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Singles chart.

10. “I’m Happy Just to Dance with You”

From: Somebody’s Waiting (1980)

Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, the Beatles recorded the rock song in 1964. Nearly two decades later, Murray turned it into an adult-contemporary ballad.

11. “Could I Have This Dance”

From: Anne Murray’s Greatest Hits (1980)

Murray recorded the song for the 1980 romantic movie Urban Cowboy. It appeared on both the film’s soundtrack album and the Anne Murray’s Greatest Hits compilation album, issued that same year.

12. “Just Another Woman in Love”

From: A Little Good News (1984)

This Wanda Mallette and Patti Ryan written song is perhaps one of the most recognizable tracks of Murray. It reached No. 1 on the country chart – where it spent a total of twenty remarkable weeks.

13. “Shadows in the Moonlight”

From: New Kind of Feeling (1979)

Released during her peak as a crossover artist, “Shadows in the Moonlight” was one of three chart-toppers for Murray in 1979.

14. “Sing High, Sing Low”

From: Straight, Clean and Simple (1970)

Though it was a minor hit in the United States, it was a No. 1 hit on both the country and adult contemporary charts in her home country of Canada.

15. “On And On”

From: Something to Talk About (1986)

Written by Jerry Buckner, “On And On” finds Murray going through a tough breakup which she doesn’t know how to handle. In fact, the love she has for her old flame continues to go stronger – deep inside her, it still goes on and on.
