Brett Young and wife Taylor Mills’ love story took a decade to write before they finally exchanged their vows. And just like many stories, theirs was also filled with ups and downs, and at one point, the couple even broke off their relationship to pursue their own paths. But true love always has its way of coming back home, and now, Brett and Taylor are proud parents of two adorable kids.

So, here is the story of how they first met and how they found their way back into love.

First Chapter: Connected through Facebook

According to an interview with People, Brett Young said that it was the early years of Facebook when he first saw a photo of Mills on her roommate’s account. Mills was then attending Arizona State University. Young then arranged a group hangout with her, a mutual friend, and some other friends, and everything was platonic at that point.

Then four months after he moved to Orange County, California, he was surprised to receive a text message from Mills. And that was the start of their long-distance relationship. Young would drive about every other weekend from Orange County to Arizona to see her. And then, when Mills finally graduated, she moved to Los Angeles to be closer to him. Unfortunately, the couple decided to break off their six-year relationship when Young moved to Nashville and pursued a country music career. He signed a record deal with Big Machine Label Group in 2015.

Second Chapter: Way Back Into Love

In an interview, the couple said that they really missed each other, but they focused on their own lives. At the time, Young was making his name in the industry. And interestingly, most of the Brett Young songs, especially from his self-titled first studio album, were inspired by Mills.

When asked about how she felt hearing the songs, Mills confessed that she was taken aback when she first heard his voice on the radio. She was driving then, and she had to pull over because she was hyperventilating. There were a lot of emotions that had been brought up, but at the same time, she felt very proud of him.

The couple reconnected two years after their breakup. And this time around, it was Young who sent a text to Mills.

Mills didn’t have his phone number, and when he texted her out of the blue, it just took her breath away. They did a catch-up, and that was when they realized that all the good stuff was still there. And all of the bad stuff were just things born out of their immaturity back then and those were all gone.

It turned out that the two years apart was exactly what they needed. According to Young, the break gave them time to grow up individually before they could come back together. After that, the rest was really easy and obvious. True enough, the pair came back inseparable and stronger than ever. And those songs that Young wrote during their time apart became a reminder that they overcame the challenges together and became better individuals and partners to each other.

Who is Brett Young’s wife, Taylor Mills?

Taylor Mills was born on August 1, 1987 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Like many other non-celebrity spouses, there’s no information about Mills’ early life and her family except that she attended Arizona State University. And then after graduating, she moved to Los Angeles, California to be closer to Young.

As of now, she is known as a homemaker and the beautiful mother of two kids.

Third Chapter: The Road to Forever

In February 2018, Young proposed to Mills at the Graduate Hotel in Oxford, Mississippi – home of his alma mater Ole Miss – complete with rose petals, champagne, and a custom ring he personally designed.

Later that year, the couple tied the knot in front of their 200 guests at the Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, California. The ceremony was officiated by Young’s father, who was a pastor, along with Young’s manager and groomsman Van Hazelitt. There were some tears shed, especially Young’s when he read his vow to his wife, whom he had spent a decade with.

After saying “I do,” the couple celebrated their union with their first dance to the tune of a special rendition of “Forever Young,” which was produced by Dan Huff, a longtime friend of Young. Gavin DeGraw, Lee Brice, and Luke Combs also performed during the reception.

But a little over their first-year wedding anniversary, Mills revealed through an Instagram post that they actually eloped and got married three months before their publicized wedding day. As the story went, Brett was home from the road that day, and the couple just walked from their house to Nashville’s Rhinestone Wedding Chapel, where a sweet, little man married them. And as they left the chapel holding each other’s hands, they realized that there was a poster right next door commemorating Brett’s number one song, “Mercy,” which was just perfect.

Fourth Chapter: Then there were four.

In the spring of 2019, the couple announced the news that they were expecting their first child. They later celebrated the pregnancy with a gender reveal where Young hit a baseball (he was a baseball player before he became a musician) which then exploded into pink powder. They welcomed Presley Elizabeth Young on October 21, 2019.

And just last July 21, Brett Young and wife Taylor Mills celebrated the arrival of their second daughter Rowan Marie Young.
