Of course, the key to being a country superstar is to be a talented vocalist. But there’s a little extra something with those male country singers with deep voice that makes fans go wild.

While some may have had low voices throughout their careers, and other country stars developed a baritone effect later in life – one thing remains consistent, country songs with deep voice singers are the decades’ most popular and successful tracks.

So, without further ado, we’re giving you the men in country music with the most iconic deep, baritone voices.

1. Johnny Cash

The Man in Black was famous for his remarkably deep bass-baritone voice and somber tone, which made him a standout among a sea of talented artists.

Before passing away in 2003, Cash had the merit of being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Gospel Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He’s also among the most recognizable and best-selling country singers of all time, selling about 90 million records throughout his career.

2. Trace Adkins

Adkins and his highly celebrated baritone voice hit notes that most artists could only dream of achieving. As a result, he racked up more than two billion streams, sold eleven million albums, and thrilled fans with three decades of hits under his belt – this includes “You’re Gonna Miss This,” “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” “Every Light In The House Is Home,” and so much more.

To date, Adkins is still keeping the country’s traditionalist flame burning.

3. Randy Travis

Among the most popular and highly praised country and gospel singers of all time, Randy Travis was blessed with an instantly recognizable, deep voice. In October 2016, Travis was one of the artists inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame for leading a neo-traditional renaissance following his commercial breakthrough in the 1980s.

Despite suffering a stroke that robbed him of his speech, doctors noted that his distinct baritone was miraculously untouched. We’re hoping we could get to hear Travis sing again.

4. Josh Turner

If you’re today’s aspiring country singer with a deep voice, you’ll never go wrong learning one or two of Josh Turner’s hits. There’s definitely no mistaking his signature low-tone, which has taken five singles to No. 1 spot of Billboard’s Country chart.

But did you know his deep, smooth voice wasn’t always like that? Well, the country crooner revealed that he had a vocal cord injury when he was 20, which has affected his singing ability. Though it did require surgery, Turner needed to go through to therapy.

After some voice rehabilitation sessions, speech therapy, and classical-music singing lessons, Turner’s voice did not only get better – but deeper and stronger. Talk about a blessing in disguise.

5. Merle Haggard

If you’re looking for older male country singers with a deep voice, then look no further than the Mighty Merle. His success within country music has been beyond impressive. After all, his rich deep God-given baritone voice has been cherished by country fans and radio programmers alike.

But most remarkably, Haggard not only possessed the genre’s standard voice but has also lived most of its themes – from poverty, heartache, and even prison.

6. Waylon Jennings

Without a doubt, Jennings has built a career that only a few can match.

Renowned for his gritty, deep, original sounding baritone voice, Jennings exemplified the outlaw side of country music. He materialized the outlaw era starting in the 1970s with a series of hits and iconic songs that endured the test of time.

7. Conway Twitty

With a voice as deep as his pompadour was high, Twitty became one of the smoothest country crooners in the ’70s and ’80s. On top of that, he was one of the most adventurous ones. He was responsible for releasing some of the most suggestive and sensual country songs in history – which is partly the reason why he has achieved such massive success.

8. Chris Stapleton

Chris Stapleton started his career as a songwriter, spending his days racking up hits for other artists like Darius Rucker and Kenny Chesney.

But with his deep baritone voice, it wasn’t long for Stapleton to achieve massive success. He is actually the first-ever artist to win CMA Awards’ Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and New Artist of the Year at once.

9. Scotty McCreery

Since winning the show in 2011, McCreery’s incredibly deep singing voice and down-home charm helped him quickly rise to fame. He has released three studio albums within his career that span to ten years – with three No. 1 hits under his belt.

10. Don Williams

Throughout his career, Williams was famous for two things: excellent songs and impressive deep voice. At the same time, the tall Texan – known as “The Gentle Giant” – got a catalog that includes lyrics that country fans could identify with strongly, making him an all-time favorite.
