The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Eric Church kicked off his highly-anticipated The Gather Again Tour last Friday, September 17, in Lexington, Kentucky, at Rupp Arena. And as expected, it was a sold-out show!
The North Carolina native delivered a three-hour performance with a setlist comprising a whopping thirty-six songs – including tracks from his recent studio album Heart & Soul, like “Bad Mother Trucker,” “Hell of A View,” “Lynyrd Skynyrd Jones,” and so much more. Of course, the country superstar played loads of fan-favorites and hits too, such as “That’s Damn Rock & Roll,” “Record Year,” “Springsteen,” to name a few.
This marked Church’s return to the road since his Double Down arena tour two years ago, making him a leading voice in the genre’s drive to get back onstage. In fact, Church has been encouraging fans to get the COVID-19 vaccine, pointing out that it’s the only path forward for things to go back to normal after the pandemic.
The Gather Again Tour is scheduled to hit fifty-five cities throughout the United States and Canada – including Los Angeles, California, Las Vegas, Nevada, Toronto, Ontario, Knoxville, Tennessee, and will wrap things up in New York City’s Madison Square Garden on May 20, 2022.
Eric Church‘s tour also features an “in the round” set-up, which means the stage is positioned in the middle of the venue to accommodate as many fans as possible.
Indeed, it’s a big year for the country superstar – especially the release of brand-new Eric Church songs out of his triple album that he wrote and recorded during the twenty-eight days he spent in the mountains of North Carolina. Each album features eight songs, including “Stick That in Your Country Song,” which earned Best Country Solo Performance nomination during the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
As if that wasn’t enough, Church is also leading the pack in the upcoming 55th Annual CMA Awards, with five nominations under his name.
