Do you think you know The King of Rock’ n’ Roll enough? From Elvis Presley’s eye color to the funny way he drank his coffee – the man is not only remembered for someone who revolutionized American pop and inspired generations of performers, but as well as a fascinating man with unusual interests.

While there isn’t much the public doesn’t know about Elvis’ life, we were still able to gather little-known facts that are rarely told about the one and only King of Rock’ n’ Roll.

1. He had an identical twin brother.

On January 8, 1935, Elvis Presley was born at his parents’ two-room house in East Tupelo, Mississippi, a little over half an hour after his identical twin brother, Jesse Garon.

Tragically, Jesse was stillborn. He was buried the next day in an unmarked grave near the Presleys’ home. His remains were sadly never transferred to Memphis, so Elvis placed a headstone in his honor in Graceland.

2. He was a bit of a germaphobe.

After his death, Elvis’ ex-wife Priscilla revealed that The King of Rock’ n’ Roll was a germaphobe. In fact, he was so determined to avoid other people’s germs to the point that he would bring his own silverware to restaurants or other people’s homes. Also, he would only drink from where the handle met the cup, believing that no one’s mouth or fingers would’ve touched that area.

3. He’s a big tipper.

During an Elvis special, CNN host Larry King narrated a story of Elvis’ great generosity when he once tipped his limo driver in Miami with the actual limousine.

There are actually countless stories of Elvis’ giving. Even some of Lisa Marie’s best memories of her father stem from his generous and charitable nature wherein he would purchase vehicles and give them away to his employees as well as to random people. He would make guest appearances to benefit charities, too.

So it’s no surprise when you’ll find numerous awards regarding his philanthropy in his home on the Graceland estate.

4. He has banned fish from Graceland.

Elvis reportedly hated the smell of fish being cooked so much that he had it banned from Graceland. According to sources, Elvis hated the smell of the food that would remind him of his childhood poverty.

5. Then he would obsessively eat one kind of food over and over.

Graceland archivist Angie Marchese has shared that Elvis enjoyed meatloaf and mashed potatoes so much that he ate them daily for dinner for the entire six months. His favorite snack was, of course, the infamous sandwich made of peanut butter, banana, and bacon.

6. He never had black hair.

While his gorgeous locks of jet-black hair that perfectly complement Elvis Presley’s eye color of striking ice blue helped him seduce any woman possible, it’s surprising to know that The King of Rock’ n’ Roll was actually born a natural blonde.

He started dying his hair black from a very early age. In fact, there’s only one photo of him with his natural hair color, and it’s on full-display at the wall of Graceland.

7. Now, is his eye color even real?

Now that photos of him with brown eyes have surfaced, perhaps you’re starting to wonder what’s the truth about Elvis Presley’s eye color. Well, Presley donned brown-colored eyes for a time using contact lenses for his role in Flaming Star – where he played the role of a Native American.

8. He’s one of the top-earning dead celebrities.

For a dead guy, Elvis Presley sure makes a lot of news. In fact, Forbes named him as one of the top-earning dead celebrities. Elvis Presley’s net worth was estimated to be $23 million last year. Indeed, The King of Rock’ n’ Roll remains an indelible influence on the entertainment industry decades after his death.

9. How tall was Elvis?

Elvis Presley’s height has been a long standing mystery! An Army medical record suggested he was 6 feet and a half-inch but a costume designer who worked with him said he was 5 feet and 11.5 inches. Elvis’ driver’s license, on the other hand, indicated that he stood 5 feet and 11 inches.

10. He had a pet chimpanzee.

Indeed, Presley’s choices were one of a kind – like owning a pet chimpanzee named Scatter, who often ended up drunk at film sets and was naughty enough to look up at women’s skirts.

For a man whose personal life has been heavily and openly scrutinized until he died in 1977, it’s definitely fascinating whenever a new piece of information about Elvis Presley comes to light.
