There’s something about listening to country songs about rain that makes us pause for a second and just dive through all the feelings. The subtle combination of different rainy tunes and talented country vocals just like Gary Allan, Trisha Yearwood, Tim McGraw, and Luke Bryan take us to that place where we feel sad, yet for some reason, we are also comforted. And so, we compiled 20 of the best country songs about rain that you should definitely listen to.

1. “Songs About Rain” by Gary Allan

Topping off our list is Gary Allan’s slow and epicly heartbreaking ballad “Songs About Rain.” In this song, Allan told the story of a man left behind by his woman and the excruciating pain of finding out that she has already taken someone else’s last name. But as he tried to comfort himself with music, the radio continuously played ‘songs about rain’ – “Rainy Night in Georgia,” “Kentucky Rain,” “Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again,” and “Blue Eyes Cryin’ in the Rain” – which made moving on even harder.

2. “Rain Is A Good Thing” by Luke Bryan

A catchy one-liner and a clever spin on rain, Luke Bryan’s lighthearted song “Rain Is A Good Thing” definitely caught a lot of good attention. As a son of a farmer, Bryan put rain in a positive perspective – an important part of the process in kicking off life – in this song.

3. “When It Rains” by Eli Young Band

Misery definitely loves company. That is, for every broken heart, rain becomes a salvation. So “When It Rains,” these Texas troubadours no longer are lonely outsiders. Instead, they fit right in that they don’t need to pretend to be happy.

4. “Georgia Rain” by Trisha Yearwood

Trisha Yearwood took a sweet walk down memory lane as she told the story of a first love that was so strong like a summer storm that not even “Georgia Rain” could fully wash away. This piano ballad will definitely make you reminisce about the sweet days of young love.

5. “Like The Rain” by Clint Black

In “Like The Rain,” Clint Black indulged his listeners with a newfound appreciation of the rain, something that he only saw as he walked through it with his woman. After all, it sometimes takes seeing things through a different lens to fully see its beauty.

Take a cue, men. This song is definitely the key to win women’s hearts.

6. “Bring On The Rain” by Jo Dee Messina and Tim McGraw

“Bring On The Rain” is a fearless, defiant take about the rain, and it’s for everyone who feels like they are caught up and drowning in a storm. This anthem reminds us to take things one day at a time and that storms, no matter how strong they could be, will soon come to pass.

7. “Let It Rain” by David Nail

Inspired by the final scene of the film The Last Kiss, this song used rain as a metaphor for the guilt felt by a man who cheated on his fiancee. “Let It Rain” is a powerful song that shows how a perfect life can be thrown into a wrench with one mistake.

8. “Raining On Sunday” by Keith Urban

A homage to the quiet Sunday afternoons while the rain pours, “Raining On Sunday” is one of those songs that take you to a comforting space where you can just be alone with your thoughts. Sometimes, that’s all we need to feel fully-rested.

9. “She’s My Kind Of Rain” by Tim McGraw

Unlike other country songs about rain, “She’s My Kind Of Rain” does not spell out everything, and that’s its very charm. Just like how the rain can both mean sadness or comfort, its poetic lyrics of drunken sky and dreaming tree is all up for us, the listeners, to fit in our own circumstance.

10. “Smoky Mountain Rain” by Ronnie Milsap

This song tells the story of a man who vows to find the woman he loves no matter what it takes. And not even the “Smoky Mountain Rain” falling could stop him from calling out her name.
