It ascended to the top of Billboard’s Country Airplay, making it David’s third consecutive No. 1 single. It also peaked at No. 6 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
A Real-Life Story Of Love At First Dance
Jordan Davis co-wrote “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot” with fellow tunesmith Lonnie Fowler. While it might sound too good to be true, this love ballad is actually a word-for-word retelling of the story behind Fowler’s first date with his then-girlfriend, now-wife Sara.
Written seven years ago, the track began when Fowler told Davis the romantic tale of how he took Sara to watch a movie on their first date. And while on their way home, Garth Brooks’ “She’s Every Woman” played on the radio. Fowler and Sara, being so deep in love, pulled over into a parking lot and began slow dancing.
While listening to Fowler’s story, Davis knew they had to write a song about it. The title and lyrics came rushing in, which Davis believed sums up what country music is all about – and that’s sharing the truth.
Now, how does Sara feel about it? Well, she thinks it’s perfect, adding that the memory of their first date has always been a special part of their relationship. Isn’t it such a beautiful way to preserve a romantic memory?
Truly, Jordan Davis songs have their ways of reaching our hearts. Tune in below and listen to “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot.”
