In 2011, Scotty McCreery won the tenth season of American Idol, making him one of the youngest singers and the first country male artist to win in the show’s history.

McCreery was only 16 years old when he first graced the singing competition to pit against a myriad of aspiring stars. But with such talent, he managed to immediately gain massive attention. People can’t believe how extraordinary it seemed for such a rich, well-developed baritone voice to come out from such a skinny, awkward-looking kid. Both the audience and the judges were blown away.

Throughout the season, the North Carolina native dominated the show with one powerful country performance after another.

The Final Round We Could Never Forget

During the final rounds, Scotty McCreery gave out his best to deliver a hip-shaking performance of Elvis Presley‘s “That’s All Right, Mama.”

“This week, I’m singing ‘That’s All Right, Mama’ by The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley,” McCreery said, adding that he’s a big fan of Presley. “That’s All Right, Mama” was released as the debut single of Presley in 1954. It is listed as one of 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine.

And the talented singer went on taking the ’50s hit like his own, showing off his rich, deep, and soulful voice. After over a hundred million votes, McCreery was named the winner of American Idol.

Today, we got to enjoy a lot of Scotty McCreery songs. He is now a celebrated country singer-songwriter with a steady flow of hits on the charts. He recently released his fifth studio album, Same Truck – which arrives three years after his previous project. Impressively, McCreery co-wrote ten out of the record’s twelve songs.

Anyway, let’s go down the memory lane and watch one of his most impressive performances in American Idol below.
