Things are finally over for Kelly Clarkson and former husband Brandon Blackstock as they finalized their divorce just shy of two years after their messy split – and it comes with a massive payment from the Grammy-winning superstar.
According to reports, the “Since U Been Gone” singer will have to make a one-time payment to her former husband of more than $1.3 million. In addition to that, Clarkson was required to pay Blackstock $115,000 every month in spousal support until 2024. This amount is much lower than the earlier amount Clarkson was asked to pay last year, which was $150,000 per month.
The Former Couple Agreed On Joint Custody
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock have agreed joint custody of their children, seven-year-old River Rose, and five-year-old Remington Alexander. However, the kids will be spending most of their time with their mother in Los Angeles, and the songstress will pay her former husband $45,601 per month in child support.
Another condition of the agreement is that both kids will be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. This is for them to safely travel out of the state to meet with their father at the Montana ranch the couple used to live in – this would be one weekend of every month. Blackstock is currently living on the property, but he will have to pay Clarkson $12,500 a month for his stay until June. The custody arrangement will be reviewed once he moves out.
Clarkson and Blackstock married in 2013. After seven years of being together, it was confirmed that Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The news of the terrible break up came after spending many months quarantining in Montana in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
