Last Tuesday (May 17), the Country Music Hall of Fame just announced Jerry Lee Lewis, Joe Galante, and Keith Whitley as the new group of inductees.
What’s more interesting is that this is the first time since 2020 that the association had come together at the prestigious Hall of Fame Rotunda to reveal the newest members. The announcement was hosted by Country Music Hall of Fame members and beloved duo Brooks & Dunn – and was live-streamed on CMA’s YouTube channel.
Country Music Association CEO Sarah Trahern described the latest inductees as “trailblazers who each paved their own unique path within Country Music.”
She added that while the three icons found their musical callings during their early years, their display of “fierce passion for music-making” left an indelible mark in the genre that endures to this day.
The Trailblazers Who Each Paved Their Own Distinctive Path Within the Genre
A country superstar whose burgeoning career was sadly cut short, one of the last surviving pioneers of rock and roll, and a country music executive regarded as the man who taught Nashville how to sell records – will be joining the genre’s most esteemed group later this year.
Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Jerry Lee Lewis – who is also the only living member of the Million Dollar Quartet composed of Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley – will be inducted in the Veteran category. He described the honor as “a humbling experience” and expressed his appreciation for all those who have recognized his music.
Meanwhile, country legend Keith Whitley is recognized this year as Modern Era Artist, while Joe Galante will be inducted in the “Non-Performer” category.
Pretty sure the country fans are definitely excited to witness the induction ceremony that will be held at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum this fall.
