Throughout Blake Shelton’s extensive career in country music, he’s been blessed to receive some incredible gifts – and of course, countless awards, honors, and recognition. While most of these he considers special, he recently received something that he said, “on a personal level might top them all.”
The country music star shared a very personal gift he was thrilled and pleased to receive. Shelton’s friend, seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson gifted him with a celebratory military NASCAR helmet that features none other than images of his late father and brother.
The singer took to social media to say how blessed he was to receive such a special gift and expressed his gratitude to Johnson. “Thank you, @jimmiejohnson. It is an honor and a privilege to call you my friend,” Shelton wrote on his Instagram account along with the photo of the special helmet. The NASCAR driver quickly responded in the comment section with, “Thanks my friend, the honor and privilege was all mine.”
The Collaboration We Didn’t See Coming
The helmet was designed by Blake Shelton and Jimmie Johnson for the Indy 500 that was held over Memorial Day Weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It has been deemed the “Helmet of Heroes” to honor those who served in the military – including the duo’s family members.

Shelton’s father was in the U.S. Army Honor Guard, while his brother was also in the military before he died in a car crash in 1990.
It truly is a meaningful helmet. In addition to that, Shelton lent his voice to the event as this year’s Grand Marshal.
