Last week’s flooding in eastern Kentucky has taken the lives of more than three dozen people and left hundreds of displaced residents – with their houses wiped from their foundations, their entire livelihoods snatched away, and their properties damaged by the catastrophe.

News regarding Kentucky flooding has immediately rippled worldwide as local and global organizations move with urgent haste to provide help to those in need. Some notable musicians, who have called Kentucky home, are also doing their part to help their home state get back on one’s feet.

This includes Chris Stapleton, who has recently been spotted at the cleanup site and shopping at Walmart for the flood victims.

Helping His Home State Heal

Chris Stapleton came from a family of coal miners in Lexington, Kentucky, and grew up in Staffordsville, Kentucky. In the wake of deadly and destructive flooding across his home state, the country superstar strapped up his boots and went on the ground right away to assist those affected.

Several people took to social media to share their run-ins with the “Whiskey and You” singer. This includes one Facebook user who posted a picture of the singer alongside the members of the Franklin County Police Department at the Knott County Sportsplex, aiding cleanup efforts.

Meanwhile, Knott County Schools shared a photo of Stapleton helping residents in one community as they get some items out from their homes.

One shopper also spotted Stapleton at Walmart in Prestonsburg, purchasing supplies for flooding victims.

In addition, Stapleton has established the Outlaw State of Kind Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief fund, in which the singer said that donations would be directly sent to the Kentucky Red Cross and Appalachia Crisis Fund for swift support to flood victims.

“Our hearts are with Eastern Kentucky & everyone who has been affected by the devastating floods throughout the region,” Stapleton wrote on his social media account. He also encourages everyone to “consider a donation to support recovery efforts if you’re able.”
