As far as country music is concerned, Chase Rice songs always secure a spot in the list. He was born in Florida on September 19, 1985, and raised in Asheville, North Carolina, on a farm. He spent his life in North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina.

So, how did the simple lad make a name for himself and got to where he is now? Here are 5 facts you need to know about Chase Rice:

1. He was a former football player.

Not only is he a well-known musician and entertainer, but he was also a collegiate football player in the past. He was a linebacker for the University of North Carolina but sustained an injury while participating in the said sport. Sadly, this injury was severe enough to prevent him from ever playing in the NFL.

2. He was a member of NASCAR.

Chase found himself a place in the NASCAR scene before breaking into the music business, but not as a racer. He took some time to join the Hendrick Motorsports team’s pit crew before starting to write and play his music. He serviced the vehicles of drivers including Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Newman, which is totally an awesome thing you can always brag about, if there is a need to.

3. He was a reality star.

Chase participated in the popular reality show Survivor: Nicaragua on CBS. His application was apparently approved because he had a friend who had connections in the network, proving that knowing people in other businesses may be helpful. In his season, he was among the top three. He made his intentions to pursue a career in country music extremely clear during the entire season. He would sing to his rivals as a form of tease, and at the reunion concert, his track, “Buzz Back,” was even played!

4. His musical inspiration was his father.

Chase’s father passed away when he was a college student, and he will never forget his mother’s phone call delivering the tragic news. Chase had been dealing with an injury at the time and had begun studying the guitar. For Chase, honing his guitar talents was a blessing in disguise since he used music to cope with the loss of his father.

5. Florida Georgia Line helped in kick-starting his career in music.

All fans of country music will be familiar with Brian Kelley from Florida Georgia Line, who was also Chase’s childhood friend. One day, Brian Kelley and Chase were simply having fun and writing some songs together after Kelley recently started a little band. They were writing a slow song when all of a sudden Brian started humming a tune, and that was when “Cruise” was born. Chase soon launched his debut studio album, which yielded two top 10 singles!

Chase Rice undoubtedly deserves to be a household name in the music industry with all these amazing facts. With his talent and personality, it’s only natural for people to be drawn to him and his music.
