Early in 2005, one of Craig Morgan’s songs became the lone number-one hit, spending four weeks at the top of the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. This song is none other than “That’s What I Love About Sunday,” from his album My Kind of Livin’, which was released back in 2004.

The song was originally written by Adam Dorsey and Mark Narmore, not Craig himself. The track served as his album’s lead single. Billboard also ranked “That’s What I Love About Sunday” as the best song of 2005, making it the first No. 1 for any Broken Bow label artist.

The song was about Sundays, going to church, and spending time with family. Technically, the song is merely a description of what most people do on Sunday. The day when the majority of us unwind our thoughts and bodies.

From a different perspective, the song suggests that we should slow down in some way and that God, family, and friends should be our main priorities. It’s important to take pleasure in everyday activities like family dinners, gardening, and playing games with friends. Rather than stressing yourself out so much on life’s challenges.

Aside from that, “That’s What I Love About Sunday” was the first independently released song to reach the top of the national charts since 2000. Shaun Silva directed the music video, which debuted in November 2004.

The songwriters, Mark Narmore and Adam Dorsey, who turns out to be a baptist preacher rather than a typical composer, wrote the song while they were meeting at a Chinese restaurant. Narmore told Country Weekly magazine that many of the characters in the song are based on real-life family and friends.

So, if you’re searching for a tune to play this weekend with your friends and family, then Craig Morgan‘s “That’s What I Love About Sunday” is the perfect song for you; you can listen to it now by clicking here.
