Country music group Little Big Town – consisting of Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman on vocals along with Jimi Westbrook and Philip Sweet on guitar – had undoubtedly changed the genre when they came on the scene in the early 2000s with their exceptional and outstanding four-part harmonies in their music.

But in addition to their thriving career, the group Little Big Town has also seen each other through many storms. Throughout the years, they have stuck with each other as they braved individual heartbreaks, professional setbacks, and of course, in celebrating life’s joyous milestones together. In fact, the fun-loving country band describes their group as “one big marriage” – which is literally the case for its two members, Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook.

On May 31, 2006, the couple-in-love tied the knot at an intimate ceremony in Nashville. But did you know it was held as a secret for a few months? Let’s walk down memory lane and celebrate one of the most wonderful marriages in country music.

Finding Lasting Love With Each Other

In 2002, Karen Fairchild divorced her then-husband – just in time for the band to release their first album, Little Big Town. Little did Karen know she was working with her one true soulmate and future husband. The two eventually realized their feelings for one another and found love in each other’s arms.

“I think Jimi and I had a special friendship and connection that blossomed when we were both single,” Karen said. So, when the opportunity presented itself, the longtime musicians made sure never to miss such a chance.

Fast forward to four years later, Karen and Jimi finally got hitched in a secret wedding. They decided to keep the happy news to themselves for two months – because they didn’t “want to mess up the band.” Still, the risk was worth it, and they’ve been happily married since.

On March 5, 2010, Karen and Jimi welcomed a baby boy, Elijah Dylan Westbrook. The couple’s first and only child was named after the couple’s favorite Bible story, combined with their love for Gunsmoke‘s fictional character, Matt Dillon.

Many Years Later, Their Marriage Remains Strong

Karen Fairchild admitted that marrying a bandmate is quite a challenge. “We are together 24 hours a day, so that is a very good thing and a very bad thing. If you need a break, there is nowhere to go,” Karen said but noted that the pros will always outweigh the cons.

Whenever they’re taking a break from recording and touring, the couple spends their time with their son at their gorgeous home in Nashville, which just happened to be previously owned by country legend Tammy Wynette. This is why Karen and Jimi lovingly call their home TammyWood.

Indeed, Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook stick together on stage and in life. Their joyous relationship is truly a dream come true.
