So, what are you waiting for? Unplug and step outside for a little sunshine, along with these country songs about the beauty of nature. Check them out below.

1. Fishin’ in the Dark by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Country songs about mountains and rivers give us peace and delight – for instance, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “Fishin’ in the Dark.” It tells the story of a couple planning to make their way to a special place, down by the river where the cool grass grows.

They detailed what their adventures would be, which included fishing in the dark, jumping in the river, counting the stars, and of course, falling in love with each other.

2. Prayin’ in A Deer Stand by Luke Bryan

Luke Bryan definitely knows what great country songs about the splendor of wildlife and nature are, and he showcased it in this heartfelt ballad.

Bryan expressed his love for wildlife and hunting inPrayin’ in A Deer Stand” and how he gets closer to God through nature. The country singer explained a deer stand is just as much a revered place for him as the church, and the stillness of the Georgia woods makes him focus on talking to the Almighty.

3. Oh, What A World by Kacey Musgraves

This song is absolutely music about the wonder of natural scenery, which everyone can relate to.

Kacey Musgraves can’t help but express her love for nature in “Oh, What A World,” where she expressed her amusement for the northern lights and plants that grow and the mystery of how we all got here. Truly, there is so much magic around us that’s quite hard to believe, and we’re grateful it’s not too good to be true.

4. Sunshine On My Shoulders by John Denver

Country music about the great outdoors gives some comfort whenever the rain gently falls – and it’s something John Denver knows better. Denver wrote “Sunshine On My Shoulders” on an early spring day in Minnesota, when it is “dreary, gray, and slushy.” The snow was melting outside, and it was too cold. Denver then found himself longing to spend more time in the great outdoors and enjoy the warmth of sunshine.

5. Sweet Summer Lovin’ by Dolly Parton

Released as the second single off Dolly Parton’s 1979 album, Great Balls of Fire, the romantic ballad is one of the classic songs about the breathtaking beauty of sunsets in nature. It takes some of the best summertime experiences – with the sun setting like a painting across the west and the sky turning into crimson blue – that led into summertime love.

6. Gone Green by Brad Paisley

Brad Paisley didn’t mince words in this lighthearted ballad as he delivered the message – loud and clear – of choosing to go green. The song tells the story of three old rednecks making small sacrifices to be more environmentally conscious. There’s one who traded his old car for a new smart car, one man now uses solar power, and the other quit using paper to stop killing trees.

7. Rocky Mountain High by John Denver

John Denver’s catalog is truly filled with songs of the great outdoors. Denver began writing “Rocky Mountain High” during the Perseid Meteor Shower while camping with friends at the tree line at Williams Lake. There, he witnessed countless shooting stars and noticed “the shadow from the starlight.”

The song has since been a well-associated piece of Colorado history.

8. I Saw God Today by George Strait

This beautiful ballad finds a father of a newly born daughter giving more attention to the things God has created. As he walked down the sidewalk, he noticed flowers growing out of a crack, a couple expecting a baby, and the breathtaking colors of the sunset. He reckoned that the things he saw along the way were instances of how he saw God that day.

“I Saw God Today” is indeed one of the most heartwarming odes of nature’s beauty.

9. Take Me Home Country Roads by John Denver

John Denver definitely gifted the world with one of the most memorable songs about the beauty of nature in the countryside, “Take Me Home Country Roads,” which he wrote with his friends Bill and Taffy Danoff.

Amazingly, the three have never been to West Virginia. Bill and Taffy began writing this catchy ballad while driving along Maryland, with Bill getting inspiration from the postcards sent to him by his friends who actually lived in West Virginia.

10. Pass It On Down by Alabama

Alabama delivered a very important message in the song “Pass It On Down.” The country band reminds every listener that we may be living in the land of plenty. Unfortunately, most things now are no longer abundant – like the water from our sink.

So, the Alabama members remind us to “leave some blue up above us” and “some green on the ground.” After all, this world is only ours to borrow.

So, what do you think about these country songs about the beauty of nature? We hope you’d enjoy listening to them as you revel in nature’s beauty and be in awe of the wonders of Mother Nature.
