In 1963, longtime Ole Opry star Ernest Ashworth released “Talk Back Trembling Lips” as part of his album “Hits of Today and Tomorrow.” It was written by American singer and songwriter John D. Loudermilk.

Ashworth was not only a country singer, but he was also known for being a broadcaster and a member of the Grand Ole Opry. After signing a contract with Hickory Label, he immediately rose to fame, releasing several country hit songs that made entries on the charts.

His song “Talk Back Trembling Lips” was by far the most famous and is considered to be his no.1 song throughout his career. It even landed on big music charts like Billboard Hot Country Songs, peaking at no.1, and on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at no. 101.

Without a doubt, it became a song other Country singers have come to love. After being certified a platinum award in the ’60s, “Talk Back Trembling Lips” immediately became a staple country song that other country singers love to cover.

Let us now dive into the meaning behind Ernest Ashworth’s greatest hit.

Meaning Behind the Song
