In 2017, Ben Haggard proved once more that he is indeed the son of country legend Merle Haggard with his cover of Elvis Presley’s classic hit “Where No One Stands Alone.”

The song was originally released in 1967 and has been well-received by listeners worldwide. It instantly became a hit not just to the fans but also to other artists. Over the coming years, the song slowly became one of Elvis Presley’s lifelong legacy

“Where No One Stands Alone” is simply about the happiness one may feel in the afterlife, where loneliness is a feeling that will never be experienced. Because of how relatable the lyrics are to people, it instantly became a hit with many.

Even Merle Haggard’s son, Ben Haggard, ended up loving the song to the point that he released his version on his official YouTube Channel. Ben released the video in 2017, and seven years later, in 2024, his cover already garnered 645,000 views, making it one of the most-watched videos on his channel.

As he sings the song with much emotion, he mesmerizes the audience, creating a connection that will make fans crave more. In terms of voice? Ben also doesn’t disappoint.

His mellow yet raspy country voice gives the song a whole new flavor. Although he didn’t change much from the original, his version is still one of the most captivating ones ever released.

In fact, the majority of the comments in his video were compliments from viewers who say his endearing aura is what made them fall in love with his music, but some also shared their sentiments on how underrated Ben is despite his musical talent.

Since he is the son of a known country legend, it is not surprising that people tend to compare him to his father. Despite the pressure, Ben always tries his best to make sure that he makes a name for himself, and not only be regarded as “Merle Haggard Son.”

We look forward to more Ben Haggard releases. Meanwhile, here’s his cover of “Where No One Stands Alone.”
