DelFest is gearing up for its sixteenth edition this coming Memorial Day Weekend 2024 from May 23-26, with hell-raising performances at the Allegany Country Fairgrounds in Cumberland, Maryland. Leading the eclectic lineup of artists from country to bluegrass down to Americana and roots is, of course, The Del McCoury Band, who have been the festival staple ever since Del McCoury founded DelFest in 2008. And the Travelin’ McCourys and Lukas Nelson will be along for the ride.

Last year, fans celebrated four consecutive sunny days of world-class performances, from legendary pioneers to new heroes of the genre. Among the acts who joined McCoury’s band were St. Paul and The Broken Bones, Trampled by Turtles, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, The Infamous Stringdusters, The California Honeydrops, and Rising Appalachia. 2023 Grammy-winning bluegrass star Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, as well as singer-songwriter Sierra Ferrell (who’s also making a comeback this year), also graced the stage.

But aside from the performances and collaborations all day long, fans will also be treated to a whole package of experience. There’s the DelFest Academy, the Late Night Shows, KidZone, Vending Faire, and Mountain Maryland. Last but not least, the festival offers a wide array of food and beverage options. Just take your pick.

Festival Essentials & Insider Tips

2023 was a big year for the event, drawing in from 30,000 to 40,000 attendees celebrating the rich legacy of Del McCoury for fifteen years. If this is your first time, yes, you guessed it right. The festival was named after him, the most awarded Bluegrass artist in history.

To join him and the rest of this year’s acts for four days of fun, you can purchase single-day passes, two-day passes, three-day passes, or a pass for the whole festival duration.

All single-day passes are $99, except for Thursday at $75. As for kids 5-12 years old, tickets cost $20. General Admission passes for Saturday & Sunday are $199 each for adults and $35 for kids. The three-day pass, from Friday to Sunday, can be bought for $285.50 for adults and $40 for kids. The four-day pass is $310.50 for adults and $50 for kids. The teen pass (13-16 years old), which is only available for all four days, costs $175.

New this year is the GA+, which gives you access not only to all four days of the festival but also to all the late-night shows. Plus, a new preferred viewing section and walk-in tent camping are included for only $499.50. And then, there’s the $799 Deluxe Experience for a premium festival celebration.

Ticket upgrades are also available at the event’s box office upon arrival.

For the full experience, you have to try all of their attractions: the Delfest Academy, where you can learn straight from the finest bluegrass musicians; Late Nights every night at 12:15 am; KidZone, a fun-filled place for all curious minds; Vending Faire for all the arts and crafts lovers; Curated food options for everyone (vegetarian and vegan included) and drink booths featuring locally brewed, limited-release beers (which will also be cashless, all you need is your festival wristband!); and Mountain Maryland, where you can explore more of nature and the outdoors.
