The Birthplace of Country Music Museum (BCM) is presenting the inaugural In The Pines on June 1, 2024, in the historic downtown Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia. And they’ve invited four rock-styled and countrified acts: Country Music Hall of Famer Dwight Yoakam, Grammy-nominated country-rocker Elle King, “Big Velvet” country singer-songwriter and former half of the Americana/indie folk-rock duo Sons of Fathers Paul Cauthen, and the up-and-rising Mexican-American troubadour Wyatt Flores.

BCM is the force behind the widely popular three-day Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, which draws over 40,000 visitors. Their new offering, In The Pines, is set to live up to the same hype.

In The Pines is named after the long-enduring traditional American folk song from the 1870s. The song has been recorded by legends from Bill Monroe, Nirvana, to Lead Belly, and of course, Dolly Parton. A variant of the song titled “The Longest Train I Ever Saw” was recorded right in Bristol by the Tenneva Ramblers. It was an apt name for a festival that aims to represent the lasting power of music not just across generations but also genres.
