Country music singer-songwriter Zach Bryan released “Pink Skies” as part of his album of the same title. It immediately became the talk of the town because of the (definitely not pop) modern catchy country tune and the controversy surrounding its promotions. Because of that, Pink Skies instantly climbed up the charts, landing at no.1 on the US Hot Rock & Alternative Songs (Billboard), no. 3 on the US Hot Country Songs (Billboard), and no. 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 – adding to the long list of Zach Bryan’s greatest hits.

But aside from its amazing tune and Zach’s undeniable popularity, the song’s meaning has also been quite the talk among listeners. Let’s get into the meaning behind Zach Bryan’s hit song “Pink Skies.”

Meaning Behind the Song

Written by Zach Bryan, “Pink Skies” is a song about the heart-wrenching idea of losing someone over time. It mostly dwells on the idea of saying goodbye to someone during a funeral.

The song’s lyrics and tune give off that somber tone that listeners can relate to. But aside from that, it also serves as a reminder for us to always be prepared to face the bittersweet ending all of us are not ready to face.

It reminds listeners to make the best memories with the people we love before it ends and for us to also embrace the shared memories of those who left us under “pink skies,” a metaphor Zach Bryan used to describe hope and beauty amid sorrow.

Since Zach’s mother died in 2016, every time the artist sings a song about funerals or someone dying, people always assume it is about his mother. However, in a post he shared on Twitter, the country superstar went on to clarify things, stating that “Pink Skies” is not inspired by his story.

He simply was interested in writing a song about all the dynamics in families as he finds it rather beautiful and interesting to talk about – hence, how the song was brought to life.
