Tønder Festival is celebrating its 50th year of handmade music this coming August 21-24, 2024, in the remote town of Tønder, Denmark. And unlike most country music festivals, which are loud, fun, and chaotic, it’s intimate and full of Danish hygge (meaning warm and cozy!). It’s the kind of place for those who love to enjoy folk, roots rock, country, and blues sounds as well as up-and-close encounters with fellow fans.
They have invited a very diverse lineup coming from different parts of the world.

From North America, they’re featuring Asleep At The Wheel (who has been coming for years), Brent Cobb, Jake Vaadeland, Rodney Crowell, S.G. Goodman, and The Hello Darlins. From the UK and Europe are Foy Vance, Elephant Sessions, Folkeklubben, Hush, Jacob Dinesen, Jonah Blacksmith, Julie Fowlis, and more.
They’re also showcasing their very own performances from Folk Spot Denmark. Every festival year, they usually present eight Nordic (seven Danish and one Norwegian) folk acts selected by an international jury of music professionals. This year, there are seven, including Maja Kjær Si Orkester, Simone Tang, Som Os, Svøbsk, The Mukherjee Development, Trio Mio, and Twang.
