At the foot of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Mill Spring, North Carolina, stands the Tryon International Equestrian Center, this year’s Earl Scruggs Music Festival venue. And they’re ready to deliver the perfect trifecta for their third year: a long list of impressive bluegrass talents, a unique venue with supreme amenities for camping and lodging, and family-friendly entertainment, including lots of good food.

The festival, hosted by lap steel guitar and record producer Jerry Douglas and Grammy-winning musical group The Earls of Leicester, will be kicked off by seminal progressive bluegrass band Yonder Mountain String Band and Grammy-winning The Steel Drivers.

Old-time country musicians will anchor Saturday’s show super-charged with rock energy, the Old Crow Medicine Show, and Country Music Hall of Famer, five-time Grammy-winner, and AMA Lifetime Achievement honoree Marty Stuart along with his band Fabulous Superlatives. The last day, Sunday, will be led by country music legend Tanya Tucker and a double-bill performance by bluegrass troubadour  Peter Rowan and the Sam Grisman Project.

This multi-day bluegrass concert celebrates Earl Scruggs’s life and his incredible contributions to the genre that solidified his place as an American icon and musical legend. He is the most influential and imitated banjo player in the world, popularizing the three-finger banjo picking style, and he is an actor and composer. His popular works include Bonnie and Clyde (1967), The Love Guru (2008), and Penguins of Madagascar (2014). And, of course, his success in the industry wouldn’t have been possible without his wife, Louise Certain Scruggs. They married in 1948 and were together until Louise’s passing in 2006. Scruggs passed away in 2012.

In addition to the main lineup of performances, they will hold a free, public housewarming party, a Welcome Home Celebration, on August 29, featuring Tanasi and The Well Drinkers. There will also be premium bourbon sampling with Grammy Award-winning bass player Travis Book of The Infamous Stringdusters and his friends Tommy Maher and Julian Pinelli.

Then, on Saturday, August 31, they prepared a separately ticketed event, “Bluegrass Over Easy Breakfast.” It’s a gourmet breakfast buffet at the Legends Club with a private performance by The Faux Paws on the Legends Stage.

And, of course, you can enjoy free yoga and gym sessions, a pickleball tournament, or explore the venue with a trail ride.
