Six-time Grammy Award winner Ronnie Milsap released his cover of Jim Reeves’s “Am I Losing You” in 1981. His version stayed for one week in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart

Ronnie Milsap sold over 35 million albums, becoming one of the most influential artists during the 1970s and 1980s. He became the most versatile country crossover singer because he incorporated pop, R&B, and rock and roll elements in his hit songs.

Some of Ronnie Milsap’s top songs include “Smoky Mountain Rain,” “Any Day Now,” “Stranger in My House,” and “(There’s) No Gettin’ Over Me.”

Feeling the Song’s Vibes

Listening to Ronnie Milsap’s “Am I Losing You” gives dreamy and relaxing feelings, like the one where you are seated comfortably in a lounge chair while sipping hot coffee or tea on a sunny morning. The string interlude reminds you of a pleasant day at the beach.

The three-minute song also reminisces about a happy day with a loved one together. The slow tempo, sweet sounds of the piano, and the strings altogether make you want to dance slowly and spend more time with each other.

Comments included the passionate singing of Milsap in his version, his smooth and soothing voice, and the utter perfection of the harmony in the background, making Milsap’s cover a more relaxing one ever to be heard.

Milsap’s version of “Am I Losing You” is part of his 12th studio album, Out Where the Bright Lights Are Glowingreleased in 1981. All songs in the album, except for two, are Milsap’s versions of the pieces of the late Jim Reeves, making the album a tribute to the late singer.
