Girl power continues to shine this year! Ashley McBryde will be presented with a special honor at this year’s CMT Artists of the Year ceremony!
Ashley McBryde to be Honored at CMT Artists of the Year Award for 2019
McBryde will be receiving the Breakout Artist of the Year Award for her outstanding track record and performances.
The country music newcomer has had a whirlwind in the past few years. She released her critically debut album Girl Going Nowhere in 2018 and received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album in 2019. She is also nominated for New Artist of the Year at the upcoming 2019 CMA Awards and was named New Female Artist of the Year at the 2019 ACM Awards.
The artists to be honored are first-time nominees, Kane Brown and Luke Combs.
Joining them are country superstar duo Dan + Shay, who have accumulated several awards from the CMA’s and Grammy’s. Certainly, their accolades count them as one of the best heavy hitters in today’s country scene.
Veteran country superstar Carrie Underwood rounds the roster of superstars. She is the only holdover from the 2018 slate, where CMT made a statement by putting up an all-female roster for the honors. Last year, Maren Morris, Kelsey Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, and Hillary Scott were the nominees.
This year’s awards celebration will mark the fifth time Underwood has been honored with a CMT Artists of the Year award since its humble beginnings in 2010.
Thomas Rhett was last included in an “Artists of the Year” program in 2016. This year’s roster leaves aside such oft-honored usual suspects as Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, and Luke Bryan.
The 2019 CMT Artists of the Year will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on Oct. 16. The ceremony, set to take place in Nashville at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, it will air live on CMT at 8 PM ET.
