Rick Herrmann is one heck of a jazzy dad! He has only been playing the saxophone for a little bit over seven months, but he already has accumulated a lot of fans!
The Dad Who Serenaded The Herd
Herrmann’s daughter had recently posted two videos of her hip snazzy father from McMinnville, Oregon. In it, he used his saxophone to serenade a herd of cows. Lo and behold! The video went viral and the footage has been shared millions of times since its initial upload last week.
In the first video, Herrmann starts off his impromptu concert by joking that this was his first time performing live. After that, he jumps start the performance by hopping onto the melodies of a classic hit: “Isn’t She Lovely?” by Stevie Wonder. It was then closely followed by a cover of George Michael’s “Careless Whisper.”

But jazz dad wasn’t finished! Herrmann’s daughter then captured the second video of her dad breaking out into the iconic melody of “Tequila.” And, it was just the icing on the cake when their neighbor from a nearby field chiming in the only lyric in the song.

The videos have already racked up over 12 million collective views and the jazz dad Herrmann told KPTV that he was shocked by how quickly his “goofy” performance was shared across the internet. Of course, he is so happy that so many people have enjoyed his musical playfulness.
“It just seemed to resonate with so many people. So many people said they had a hard day and they watched it and it put a smile on their face.”
Herrmann said that he started to play the saxophone about seven months ago and did it just to make people happy. He just didn’t know it would be this many people so soon.
