It’s definitely easy to get discouraged or perhaps even fearful of what lies ahead. Luckily, there are country songs about faith to remind you that the Lord is with us through and through.

Whether you are looking for uplifting country music about hope and faith or devotional country songs to tell you that God is our refuge and strength, fret not, as there are plenty of inspirational country songs that will instantly lift your spirit.

Today, we are happy to share the best country songs about faith that will help us rest in the fact that God is in control. Check them out below!

1. When I Get Where I’m Going by Brad Paisley

Here’s one country song that touches the heart and soul, finding Paisley fantasizing about the afterlife “on the far side of the sky” – where there will only be happy tears. It’s a place where everyone is free to love and have no fear.

What makes this song even greater is that it comes with a music video that features country legend Dolly Parton as a guest vocalist.

2. Three Wooden Crosses by Randy Travis

Randy Travis is among the famous country artists singing about faith and belief. In “Three Wooden Crosses,” Travis tells the story of passengers from different backgrounds killed in a tragic bus accident. It went on with the lone survivor – a prostitute – who was given a second chance by God to live a better life and right her wrongs as a child of Christ.

3. Family Bible by George Jones

If you are looking for country music that celebrates faith, here’s a great one. This classic song, “Family Bible,” finds George Jones recounting when the end of the day meant children spending time with their families, reading the Bible, and counting their many blessings.

It was written by country icon Willie Nelson as inspired by his grandmother, who would sing him “Rock of Ages” and read from the Bible after dinner.

4. Jesus, Take the Wheel by Carrie Underwood

Talk about country songs about trusting in God! Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” tells the story of a young mother and her near-death experience when her car hit a sheet of black ice. Following the incident, she decided to turn to Jesus and surrender control to a higher power. After all, God will guide us through our darkest times.

5. Believe by Brooks & Dunn

Who doesn’t love country songs about finding strength in faith, right? That is how Brooks & Dunn’s “Believe” swiftly captured our hearts. The song tells a child’s encounter with an elderly man who has lost his wife and son. However, despite such a heartbreaking incident, the man managed to keep going. It’s all thanks to his faith in God and belief that he’ll see his loved ones again soon.

6. Go Rest High on That Mountain by Vince Gill

It’s amazing to find country music that offers comfort and healing through faith, such as Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High on That Mountain,” – which he wrote after the death of his great friend, fellow country singer Keith Whitley in 1989. However, it wasn’t until four years later, when his brother succumbed to a heart attack, that he finally finished writing the song.

7. Baptism by Kenny Chesney and Randy Travis

Kenny Chesney and Randy Travis’s song “Baptism” will help you focus on and renew your faith as it sings about a believer’s baptism down in an East Tennessee river. Travis also recorded his solo version of the song, and it won Country Song of the Year during the 2001 GMA Dove Award.

8. I Saw God Today by George Strait

Here’s one of our favorite country songs about the beauty of God’s creation. It tells the story of a new dad who’s starting to appreciate things like a flower growing out of a sidewalk’s crack, a couple expecting a baby, and the stunning colors of a sunset. The man cites that all the beautiful things he’s seen that day exemplify how he saw God.

9. The Old Rugged Cross by Johnny Cash

The Man in Black was such a fan of gospel country songs with powerful messages that you’ll find plenty of it in his repertoire. Take, for instance, “The Old Rugged Cross,” written by Methodist evangelist George Bennard over a long time while traveling to revival meetings.

The hymn gained popularity when Billy Sunday began using it during his evangelistic campaigns in the early 1910s.

10. The Old King James by Scotty McCreery

Scotty McCreery is a committed Christian who has released several worship country songs. Unsurprisingly, he closes his debut album with “The Old King James,” which speaks about his beliefs and the wonders of the Bible.

McCreery noted that the song reminds him of how he grew up in church, reading the old King James Bible.

11. Something in the Water by Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood never shies away when it comes to sharing her faith. She even took it to another level when she released “Something in the Water” for her 2014 compilation album Greatest hits: Decade #1. The Christian song reveres the benefits of getting saved through baptism.

12. Thy Will by Hillary Scott & the Scott Family

“Thy Will” is one of the many Christian country songs released by singer-songwriter Hillary Scott with the Scott Family. Scott wrote the song about keeping the faith even in tough times in 2015 after experiencing a miscarriage. Scott noted how she held onto the thought that God has a better plan to move forward.

13. Angels Among Us by Alabama

Written by songwriters Don Goodman and Becky Hobbs, this belief-inspired country music was based on a personal experience of Goodman after she had survived a car accident. She knew her guardian angel had been looking after her that day.

The song has inspired thousands of people; even Alabama’s lead singer Randy Owen revealed that they received hundreds of letters from all over the world telling them that the song was a blessing.

14. That’s Why I Pray by Big & Rich

Here’s one of the beloved, heartfelt country songs about the power of prayer, which the country music duo Big & Rich released in 2012. The mid-tempo ballad addresses various social problems, such as a neighbor losing his house due to unemployment, saying that such problems are the reason a person prays.

15. New Again by Sara Evans and Brad Paisley

This touching duet is one of the many country songs about Jesus that will surely touch your soul. “New Again” finds Sara Evans and Brad Paisley taking turns singing as Jesus and Mary, with Jesus reassuring his mother that everything will be just fine. The two talented artists recorded the song for the 2004 epic biblical drama film The Passion of the Christ
