This career-defining smash hit for Jimmy Buffett has since become synonymous with fun times and warm weather – even symbolizing a Caribbean lifestyle – ever since it was released in 1977. “Margaritaville’s” lyrics are about a laidback lifestyle in a tropical climate. It was written by Buffett himself about a drink he discovered at a restaurant in Austin, Texas, as well as the first huge surge of tourists descending on Florida at the time.

There’s absolutely nothing better than country songs about the freedom and carefree spirit of summer. Take, for instance, Blake Shelton’s “Some Beach,” which sings about a man dealing with frustrations like being flipped off on highway traffic and having to wait all afternoon at the dentist’s office. He can’t help but wish he was on some beach somewhere.

3. Toes by Zac Brown Band

Well, we can never get enough of upbeat country songs perfect for summertime backyard barbecues – and Zac Brown Band’s “Toes” is on top of the list. In the song, Zac Brown bids Georgia goodbye as he’s bound for a getaway, where he plays his guitar on the beach and dips his toes in the water.

4. Summertime by Kenny Chesney

Nothing gives the perfect country summer vibes better than Kenny Chesney’s “Summertime,” which sings about the different things that could happen in the warm season. Songwriter Craig Wiseman, who wrote the song, revealed that he penned the track during the first night of summer – when the weather begins to cozy and the smell of the grass growing becomes apparent. 

5. Sweet Summer Loving by Dolly Parton

It looks like Dolly Parton has her own way of enjoying the summer – and no, she’s not having some backyard barbecue or getting a tan on the beach. In the song, the country queen and her lover run barefoot and feel free as they let their love flow. Well, there’s definitely nothing hotter and more exciting than finding love during the summer. 

It’s one of the most romantic country songs for summer flings and beachside romances.

6. Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson

Country songs with catchy hooks and upbeat tempos that capture the energy of summer are just plain amazing such as Alan Jackson’s “Chattahoochee.”  In this song, the country singer sings about growing up and falling in love in a small town nearby the Chattahoochee River, which gets hotter during the summer. The song became Jackson’s first single on the entire Billboard Hot 100.

7. All Summer Long by Kid Rock

Kid Rock has created one of the best country songs that capture the spirit of adventure and exploration that summer brings. “All Summer Long” is a man’s tale of his treasured summer from his past. 

The song became one of the biggest hits of Rock’s career. In addition to ranking No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, it became a top hit in Australia as well as in six countries across Europe.

8. Body Like a Back Road by Sam Hunt

This song is perhaps one of the most infectious summer country jams. As a result, the song crossed over to the pop charts, jumped into the top 10 of Billboard Hot 100, and was even certified multiplatinum. 

Hunt co-wrote “Body Like a Back Road” with Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Zach Crowell after he got engaged to his now-wife Hannah Lee Fowler.

9. Buy Me a Boat by Chris Janson

Chris Janson co-wrote the song with Chris DuBois, which finds him dreaming of having the money for the things he desires, such as a boat and a brand new rod and reel. Well, it looks like Janson has one great summer escapade in mind.

Several fans relate to the song that it rocked the country charts, peaking at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

10. Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band

Zac Brown Band is known for their summer country hits, especially “Chicken Fried.” The song became their first chart single and their first No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. And it’s amazing how it wrapped up a great summertime, especially when you spend it with your loved ones.

11. Pontoon by Little Big Town

Meanwhile, the country quartet gives a glimpse of southern living in the song “Pontoon,” which sings about having a party while on a pontoon – a flat boat that floats with the help of hollow tubes. Karen Fairchild revealed that they grew up on pontoons and the lake. 

While it’s quite unusual for a chick singing about a pontoon, the song hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

12. That Summer by Garth Brooks

Ever had a summer that you always look back to? Well, Garth Brooks got one, and it’s his encounter with an older woman while he was working on her farm. The song will leave you wondering what happened after he drank his coffee.

13. Til Summer Comes Around by Keith Urban

We can’t help but look forward to the warm weather whenever it’s winter. Keith Urban felt the same way when he wrote this song inspired by how theme parks look deeply sad every time they get shut down during the cold season. “Longing is such a powerful feeling,” Urban said.

14. Cruise by Florida Georgia Line

Remember when Florida Georgia Line skyrocketed to instant megastardom with “Cruise.” Not only is it one of the best summer love songs, but it was also the song with the most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart for a new act’s first charted title since 2004. In 2013, it also became the best-selling song by a country duo in digital history. 

15. Short Skirt Weather by Kane Brown 

Meanwhile, Kane Brown celebrates the warm season – when the ladies wear the scanty clothing that makes country boys wish summer would just go on forever in this rousing 90s country-inspired summer anthem. 16. Long Hot Summer by Keith Urban 

Keith Urban co-wrote one of the most romantic country songs with lyrics about spending lazy summer afternoons by the river or the lake with a lover, as they would sing along with the radio. Released as a third single off his album Get Closer, the song reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

Here’s one of our favorite inspirational country songs about making the most of every summer moment – reminding us that everything’s right whenever summer is coming. The song comes with a music video directed entirely by Clint Black, featuring Howie Mandel skipping out from work and driving to the beach on a sunny day. Several celebrities made cameo appearances in the video, too. 

18. Sunshine and Summertime by Faith Hill

Faith Hill sums up one great summertime in this track, where she sings about barefoot ladies, classic colas and ice-cold coronas, and big cool parties in the backyard. What’s a better way to celebrate summer than calling everyone to a beach party celebration? The feel-good song was such a hit that it gained unsolicited airplay. It peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and did peak atop the Canadian country charts.

25. Two Pina Coladas by Garth Brooks

Is there anything the sea can’t heal? “Two Pina Coladas,” tells the story of a brokenhearted man who headed to the beach to soothe his blues.
