Blake Shelton’s brother played an integral part in one of the intimate moments of the now divorced country music stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. Before their split, the two shared a special moment while writing a song together.

Miranda Lambert’s “Over You”

It may have been nearly six years when Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton announced their split, but the former recalls a special moment between them. Years after suffering a devastating loss, she and her ex created a song to help the Shelton family heal.

Blake was just 14 years old when he experienced losing his older brother Richie Shelton in a car accident. He was only 24 years old at that time in 1990. As reports mentioned, Richie’s girlfriend, who was only 20 years old, was driving and slammed into the back of a school bus on the roadside over the hill. Her three-year-old son was also in the car with them, resulting in three lives’ fatality.

Lambert shared how she was shocked when her ex-husband first revealed his loss. He started opening up to her, and she asked if he had ever made a song about it. It turns out the country crooner didn’t have the guts to do so.

Moreover, Blake Shelton’s songs aren’t known so much for grief-stricken themes, which is probably a reason. He’s more of grungy upbeat tunes that keep his fans ecstatic. But she has persuaded him to create a song with her, which became one of their unforgettable collaborations. Thus, Miranda Lambert’s “Over You” was born.

Blake Shelton’s Thoughts

We can say this is part of Blake Shelton’s facts when the famous singer has said that the event changed his life forever. He recalled how his father used to say that they don’t get over it but only get used to it. And as a result, this phrase got stuck on his head every time he remembers his brother.

Although they’re not together anymore, Lambert helped Shelton somehow get over his grief. It’s evident in the lyrics of “Over You.”

Indeed, Blake Shelton’s brother also became an essential part of Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s past relationship even he’s in heaven.
