The wedding bells are ringing for Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani!

After 5 years of giving the audience wonderfully romantic duets, this couple is finally giving their fans what they ultimately want. While their respective music genres are worlds apart, their off-stage romance deserves lots of airtime.

With that, let’s backtrack their relationship timeline: from the set of The Voice 2014 to their recent engagement announcements. Here’s how they became “Happy Anywhere” together:

April 29, 2014: Gwen Joins Season 9 The Voice

Alongside fellow The Voice 2014 coaches, Adam Levine and Pharrell Willaims, Gwen Stefani worked with Blake Shelton in the 9th season of the famous NBC show.

Gwen, along with Pharrell, was one of the replacement judges, taking the seat of Shakira and Usher.

Interestingly, Gwen admitted that she had no clue about Blake before they met on the show. In November 2015, she told Ellen DeGeneres that it was her first time hearing about the country singer when they worked together as The Voice judges.

July 20, 2015: Blake Got Divorced from Miranda Lambert

In July 2015, the split of the country power duo, Blake and Miranda Lambert, filled the headlines. While fans made speculations about their divorce, details of the end of their four-year marriage were carefully kept under wraps.

August 5, 2015: Gwen Got Divorced from Gavin Rossdale

After 13 years of being Gavin Rossdale’s wife, Gwen was single again. In a statement, the couple cleared the air by saying that the divorce was a mutual decision. Their healthy breakup comes with respecting their roles as partners in raising their three children: Apollo, Zuma, and Kingston.

In the same year, the two newly divorced singers appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Alongside their fellow Voice stars, they graced the show as normal workmates.

However, fans were quick to wonder about their off-screen relationship. Their duet of Drake’s “Hotline Bling (2015)” gave away their chemistry, hinting at their true relationship status.

November 2, 2015: Hands On Each Other On Halloween

Not long enough, the “Hollaback Girl (2004)” singer is spotted all over the country singer during various Halloween parties. That weekend, headlines were filled with details of their PDA.

As per E! News, sources revealed that they were seen leaving the star-studded parties at the end of the night.

November 4, 2015: Officially a Couple

Two days after their major Halloween escapades, Gwen and Blake admitted the true score of their romantic relationship.

Blake’s rep said that during this time, the couple just had started dating. The chart-topping duo later revealed that they initially started getting together over their splits. Coincidentally, their respective divorces were happening at the same time.

February 28, 2016: First Ever Red Carpet Appearance

Three months after their revelation, the famous singers finally made a red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Gwen held Blake’s hands while she walked in a sultry red gown.

Cameras were all over them, breaking the internet afterward with their adorable aura together.

May 9, 2016: Their First Duet as an Official Couple

Another three months would pass before the singing power couple’s next appearance as a pair. In 2016, Gwen and Blake’s worlds collided during their first duet at the Billboard Music Awards.

They sang their newly released song called “Go Ahead and Break My Heart (2016).” The pair penned the single together as part of Blake’s tenth studio album, “If I’m Honest (2016).” This song landed in the US Billboard Top 100 and US Hot Country Songs.

July 28, 2016: Blake admits Gwen Saved His Life

As Gwen and Blake’s romance blossomed, the country hitmaker shared how the pop singer “saved” his life.

In an interview for a cover story, he shared through Billboard that Gwen understood his high-profile divorce situation. Their mutual experience brought them together, he recalled.

Since Gwen hasn’t heard of Blake before The Voice, they started communicated outside work through once-a-week emails. It was almost professional yet full of shared care and friendship. From here, they started checking in multiple times a week. Before they knew it, they were texting each other every day.

Blake further shared that their respective splits were cunningly similar, giving Gwen the power to save the country star from his side of the situation.

September 23, 2016: Speculations on the Wedding

Ellen Degeneres probed on Gwen and Blake’s rumored wedding date. As the acclaimed host asked the “What You Waiting For?” singer, she slyly answered, “I’ll let you know.”

During this time, it’s only been just a year after the couple admitted their relationship to the public. Yet, speculations were already persistent. However, this didn’t scare the couple away, resulting in more heartfelt duets.

December 4, 2017: Their First Christmas Duet on TV

Although Gwen took a break from coaching in The Voice, she came back to perform a holiday duet with her boyfriend.

Blake told People how Gwen was so exhilarated to perform with him that night. It’s their second duet, singing “You Make It Feel Like Christmas (2017).” Gwen wrote the song, which was released on October 6 that year.

April 10, 2018: More Wedding Speculations

The following year, Ellen DeGeneres poked fun at Gwen about their rumored marriage again. “I’m just confirming what the tabloids are saying, which is that y’all are getting married,” Ellen asked. As expected, the multi-genre artist just dismissed the question. However, she shared how the thought of marriage floats at the back of her mind all the time.

November 20, 2018: They Team Up on a Holiday Music Video

Only a year after the singing power couple released “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” they worked together again for a music video. It’s part of Gwen’s fourth studio album, which is available on her Youtube Vevo account.

With over 15 million views as of writing, the song’s deluxe version truly captured the hearts of the fans further. Some noted how Blake was just there in the video, snapping his finger like a true gentleman.

September 2019: Gwen Had No Idea About Blake

Four years into Gwen and Blake’s relationship, the No Doubt lead vocalist spoke with Andy Cohen. She noted how she was worlds apart from her now-fiancé before meeting on The Voice 2014.

“I didn’t even know he was a human being on this planet,” Gwen admitted. She further expressed her fascination about how Blake is a “country jukebox.” Stating how Blake is someone familiar with an amazing number of country songs, Gwen confessed that she loves that they’re from opposite genres.

January 21, 2020: Third Duet Release: “Nobody But You”

Welcoming the new decade, the couple added another duet to their list.

“Nobody But You (2020)” appeared in the country star’s recent album called Fully Loaded: God’s Country.

As one would expect, it’s another song that sings about their love for each other. It’s the perfect way to kick the year off as it topped in the country music charts.

Consequently, the couple tugged on heartstrings at the Grammy Awards during their live performance.

July 24, 2020: More Duets Because They’re “Happy Anywhere”

While the couple stayed together during the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak, they took this time to release another duet.

“Happy Anywhere (2020)” features the couple’s unique vocals in an upbeat country tune. It celebrates happiness and contentment even when the world crumbles as long as you’re stuck with the person you love.

The lyrics is a confession of the couple’s real-life experience as they’ve been quarantined together almost the whole year.

October 2020: Gwen Comes Back The Voice

Gwen sat alongside Blake for season 19 of The Voice. It’s her fifth season sitting as one of the coaches. She’s been part of the show for seasons 7, 9, 12, and 17.

October 27, 2020: “Yes Please!”

Gwen and Blake proudly announced their engagement mid-pandemic. In an Instagram post, Gwen posted a photo featuring them kissing and her showing off her Emerald cut diamond. Her sweet and short caption “@blakeshelton yes please!” says it all.

Online sources are quick to pick up rumors about the couple’s tentative wedding venue. Their big day is said to take place right in Blake’s own chapel in Oklahoma. Some also speculate that it’s the same chapel that was the backdrop of their engagement photo.

March 2021: Worlds’ Apart No More

From mere complete strangers to becoming duet and life partners, Blake and Gwen have truly come so far. In fact, they’ve been together long enough that they’ve grown to love each other’s music.

Recently, during the March 7, 2021 episode of The Voice, Blake even used his bond with Gwen to win over Pia Renee during his blind auditions. The auditionee sang a reggae song.

The “Minimum Wage (2021)” singer jokingly claimed that Gwen’s stamp on reggae makes him qualified to coach the said auditionee. He proudly said that he’s grown to love this genre, too, all thanks to his soon-to-be wife.

Everyone’s all ears to the next phase of the Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani relationship timeline. While there are no definite details on their wedding yet, we’re sure that there are more of their duets coming our way.
