Blake Shelton’s “Sangria” dominated the country music scene in 2015, and nobody’s arguing. You can’t simply get rid of the song when it is stuck on your head. It’s incredibly catchy, which makes listening to it once isn’t enough to satisfy your cravings for its sultry country melody.

The Tasteful Background of “Sangria”

All Blake Shelton songs are under the approval of his producer Scott Hendricks. Thanks to this man that we get to enjoy Shelton’s vocals on an alluring note. Scott initially passed on the song when songwriters Josh Osborne, J.T. Harding, and Trevor Rosen made a pitch on a Friday. Nevertheless, after two days, Shelton’s producer came around and said he actually wants the famous country singer to play it. When asked why Scott did change his mind? ‘Lo and behold, it’s because he can’t get it out of his head.

Another fun fact is that Blake Shelton wasn’t the first singer to get the offer, though. But as they say, the third time’s the charm, which happened to Shelton on this song.

Picturing the bars in Mexico that sit on the beach, “Sangria” takes you to the story of a woman and a man on vacation. The two shared drinks in a bar and spent the night together in pure bliss. The lyrics described the woman with “lips taste like sangria.” It has an impossibly catchy melody and lyrics that any listener will get hooked on quickly.

“Sangria’s” Performance

For some of you that don’t know, Sangria is an alcoholic drink that originated in Portugal and Spain. It’s a known Spanish beverage for the ladies as it’s best for chilling and drinking the night away. Blake Shelton’s “Sangria” was given a positive critical reception by Country Weekly’s Tammy Ragusa, who wrote how the song tastes like a subtle and appropriate Spanish flavor. Furthermore, he commented how super-sexy the cha-cha vibe of this piece thanks to its suggestive lyrics. It’s no wonder it turned into a country hit of 2015.
