From a bunch of renditions, the paramount cover was from Bonnie Tyler. Indeed, she gave a different taste and twist to “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.” With her husky voice and high notes, the song’s outcome is one of the best.

Bonnie Tyler’s attack, as we all know, is with a patch of rock, jivey, and fast beat sounds. Nevertheless, it still sounds so good. A song made for a repetitive play. Given this, Bonnie Tyler’s rendition of “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” is worth backtracking.

Have You Ever Seen The Rain…

John Fogerty of the band Creedence Clearwater Revival is the songwriter behind “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.” The aforementioned band originally recorded it. Also, it was part of their album “Pendulum.” It was considered as one of the band’s most successful singles. It also became their signature song.

“Have You Ever Seen The Rain” received constructive and affirmative criticisms from inside and outside of the country music enthusiasts. With this, it has been recorded by numerous artists. It was recorded by more than 20 artists including country artists such as Willie Nelson, Rod Stewart, and Alan Jackson.

Controversy…

Many speculated that the song was about Vietnam War, saying that the “rain” is the bombs falling from the sky. Another, the song was an idealism of the wake of events such as the “Altamont Free Concert” and the “Kent State” shootings.

John Fogerty cleared these speculations. “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” was about his brother, Tom, parting from their band. Also, Fogerty explained that their band had experienced the luxury of success, but they still felt unhappy and depressed. As the lines say:

“Have you ever seen the rain, coming down on a sunny day.”

The Lyrics…

Someone told me long ago

There’s a calm before the storm

I know it’s been comin’ for some time

When it’s over, so they say

It’ll rain a sunny day

I know shinin’ down like water

I want to know

Have you ever seen the rain?

I want to know

Have you ever seen the rain

Comin’ down on a sunny day?

Yesterday and days before

Sun is cold, and rain is hard

I know been that way for all my time

‘Til forever, on it goes

Through the circle, fast and slow,

I know it can’t stop, I wonder

Want to know

Have you ever seen the rain?

I want to know

Have you ever seen the rain

Comin’ down on a sunny day?

This is the duet of Alan Jackson and John Fogerty of “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.”
